In & Outs
a Jack of all trades item type
One of my favorite item types on Writing.com (beside the Static item, of course) is the In & Out. There are so many of them, and so many different uses for them! I thought I'd use this newsletter to explain why I love them so much!
In & Outs are available to all membership levels.
That's right. No matter if you're using a free membership, or an Enterprise membership, you can create an In & Out.
In & Outs are great for all types of games.
You can use them to play word games, create silly stories by allowing members to only contribute so many words, answer a question with another question, make a guess on trivia.
In & Outs are great for sharing!
Other Writing.com members can leave you a message, like a guest book. Or you can use an In & Out to post your newest work. You can have other members post items they want read or seen in an In & Out.
In & Outs are great for contests!
This is an especially great thing for members who aren't able to utilize the Message Forum item type, because of membership level restrictions. In & Outs can hold up to 100 different posts, so you can host a contest without a problem.
What happens if you get more than 100 entries? If you're worried about it, you can move qualifying entries to a static item and delete them from the In & Out. The older entries will reappear, if there were more than 100.
How do I create an In & Out?
Go to the Writing link at the top of any page. In the Interactive items section, select In & Out.
There's also a great guide to creating In & Outs, featured in my Editor's Picks below!
Where do I find In & Outs?
Go to the Reading link at the top of any page. In the Interactive items section, select In & Out. From there, you can sort it any which way you'd like to view the ever growing list of In & Outs on Writing.com! |
