Community Involvement
or You get what you give!

I think it's safe to say most of us are here on Writing.Com to improve our writing.Using this site to improve involves all of us working to improve the site. The secret to getting the most out of this wonderful site is Community Involvement. When we work together to make the site better, it helps us get more out of the site!

So how can we become more involved and strengthen Writing.Com? Here are some ideas:

*Idea* Review - Reading and reviewing others' work is one of the best way to improve our own! Try out the new *Dollar*Random Review*Dollar* tool! Just look for the *Dollar* to the left and near the top of any page on Writing.Com. Reviewing helps members gain gift points and make connections with other members. You can watch your name rise among the Top Active and Credited Reviewers! Perhaps the best reward is the ability to look critically at your own writing!

*Idea* Host a Contest - Get to know your fellow writers and get inspired by hosting a contest or activity! If you don't have enough free time to host by yourself, trying combining forces with other members or offering to guest-judge a round! Contests take work and effort. They don't always succeed immediately, but tend to grow in exposure with time. Use the BidClick system, add a link in your signature, and post in the various plug pages and forums to advertise!

*Idea* Participate - Join in a group or activity. Try a Madlib or Crossword Puzzle. Send a Community Note to a fellow member! It often takes only a few spare moments to participate and the rewards are immeasurable!

*Idea* Recruit - Tell your family and friends about Writing.Com! Share a link on social media sites. Spread the word! When the community grows, so do we!

*Idea* Welcome a Newbie - If you find a new member, send them a greeting or review! Visit "Noticing NewbiesOpen in new Window. and say hello to a new member! Better yet, review a newbie! We were all newbies once and with our ever-changing and growing site, we are often newbies once more! Reach out to connect with someone!

There are lots and lots of ways to contribute to the site. We don't always have tons of spare time, but spending a few moments here and there can really mean a lot! Together we can continue to improve our favorite writing website! *Bigsmile*

Always keep on writing!

Ask & Answer

My last newsletter, ("Contests & Activities Newsletter (December 25, 2012)Open in new Window.), discussed making resolutions.

I'd like to do 66 reviews in 2013 (that'll take me to an even 200 reviews done in total), work on my new blog (reviewing romance novels) and finish (properly edited and everything) my 2012 nano novel. ~ Elle - on hiatus Author Icon

Great goal! *Smile*

My new year resolution is to edit my NaNoWriMo novel :D
I love resolutions because they push you harder than just deciding to do something. Everyone always asks what yours is and because you never want to admit you failed it gives you an extra push!

I totally agree!

Hey, thank you for highlighting my contest, Earn Your Upgrade. It's very much appreciated. :D ~ hopelesslyoptm

You're quite welcome! *Smile*
