Letter from the editor

A defintion of contest. fight to gain, compete for; struggle; encounter; competition; dispute.

When you look through the defintion above you might think to yourself "What is she writing about?"
You will be surprised to know that when you look into each of the defintions they are all quite true.

In any competiton there is a rivalry. It may be friendly but everyone who enters a contest are doing it for one purpose and that is to win that ultimate prize. It may be a trophy, Awardicon or Merit Badge but we all strive to be the best writer and with knowledge & skill there will always be a winner.

Everybody here on the site has a difference of opinions and quite often I get emails from entrants in my own contests calling to question about several rulings and guidelines. Most of the Contest hosts must feel the same and at some time think to themselves "Why am I doing this?" I feel like this most of the time. Another question that quite regularly comes into mind is "Why am I bothering?"

If any of the guidelines are diificult to understand email the contest host but please don't make yourself a nuisance as it can easily deter the host from doing his/her level best to please people. This where hostility comes into it and a dispute is the last thing anybody wants.

Fight to gain is another defintion.

Everybody here on this site fights to gain achievement for their writing. To find success in the world of books, that elusive publishing contract and the idea of fame. This can be said for Writing Contests and the wiinning notification that comes through to your email. It makes you feel good and very proud of yourself. Don't loose the fight and keep on entering in more contests the more the merrier. One day that chance a published book will happen just keep up with the good work.

I hope that this Newsletter has helped you out in some way and I also hope you understand the route I am taking.

Thank you for reading janie
