About This Newsletter

When I discovered Story.Com nearly eleven years ago, I didn't realize it was just beginning, but I liked what I found.

Letter from the editor

Happy Birthday Writing.Com

Housebound and slowly growing more desperate to find something I could do after teaching for nearly 30 years, always busy, always working with words whether spoken or written, I discovered a different website: Story.Com. I also discovered a new family.

I enjoyed having an outlet for my writing. I reviewed writings from others, healing my missing teaching life. SM helped me with my lacking technical skills, joining others who pulled me kicking and screaming into the technological age. So many friends, so many writers, so many who propped me and my writing.

Story.Com morphing into Writing.Com made sense at the time and still does.

Thanks to another W.Com member who "adopted" me, I attended two W.Com conventions, but couldn't the last one. I met SM and SMs before and after their wedding. A gorgeous, friendly couple. I met so many site friends face to face.

Over the years, I've met others from this site. Many are now part of 4RV Publishing in one area or another. At times I've not been as active on the site as during other times, but I'm still connected.

Thanks for the great example of a well-written query letter. I've always wondered, though, what i can say about myself in the biographical section, since i have no English or literature degree and have not yet been published. What would one say to support her ability to write good fiction in her very first query letter?

Don't exaggerate, be honest. What have you done to prepare to be a writer, for example?

Hello,
My name is Zheila. I read your Newsletter. It is very useful to me. In a way that I decided to hold to it. Although, I do write documentary but I am hopeing one day I can write a novel. For the time being I need pratcing, which is why I would like to continue my membership with you. So in the future this Newsletter shall help me to contact a good publishing company.

I don't know that this newsletter will help you contact a good publishing company. All we can do is try to help authors become better writers so that when they are ready to submit to a publisher, their work has a good chance to be noticed.

Great News Letter. This is a keeper and will come in handy if I ever get my mess straightened out. It was easy to follow and has the explanations needed.
