I believe in simplicity in introduction to new things and also that there is a wide variety of topics to be explored in this newsletter --Not only for newbies, but those that have been here for years and want to recognize newbies through reviews, etc... I think that the primary focus of this newsletter should be twofold: Just Here and Here For Years... I think that the title is so broad that this newsletter really needs to feature something for newbies as well as "oldbies". Of course, cohesiveness between the two is also important so that one does not feel lesser than the other. We are all equals here and I think the best way to convey that message to newbies is to let them see their work alongside "WdC veterans"...

Hello, my lovelies! I hope this newsletter finds you well.
Today, I thought we'd speak about yet another oft-forgotten aspect of WdC: The Product Review.
What is a Product Review?
A Product Review is a review of things other than Writing.com items. Most commonly, they are about books, but you may also create a PR for music, software, VHS videos and video games.
How Do I Create a Product Review?
First, you will need to obtain the item's ASIN (Amazon Standard Item Number). To do so, go to http://www.amazon.com and search for the item you would like to review. Once you've reached the item's page, scroll down to 'Product Details' and you will see the ASIN. Copy or write down that number.
Next, come on back to writing.com and click where it tells you how many items are in your portfolio (left side of the screen, right under your username). Under the Portfolio tab, click 'Create Item'. The last item, at the bottom of the far right column, is 'Product Review'. Clicky, clicky, then enter the ASIN in the box provided.
*Note: For books, the ASIN is the same as the book's ISBN, so you can skip the amazon search and just get that from the book (found by the bar code).
What Now?
Now, just fill in all the information. The content rating and products ratings are both based upon the same systems used all over WdC.
Why?
Well, you can gain exposure on WdC for your Product Reviews (if you're good, people might even ask you to review their books!) and you get to share the word about a book you're just in love with or a movie that was a waste of your time. More importantly, though, you are helping other authors (as well as other creators) to get more attention for their product. This is especially important for those that are just starting out or are not so well known. It's what you'd want someone to do for your book, right? Well, you scratch my back... (I'll freak out! A hand coming through my monitor doesn't sound very pleasant...). Besides, this is good practice for reviewing in general. To start off, it might be easier to review a book you've read recently than to review something on WdC where the writer will personally read the review. It can help you to maintain an objective attitude as well train your mind to focus on one aspect of a piece at a time so as not to overload your brain and forget to say half of what you thought while you were reading a shorter WdC item.
Well, that's all for now. Hope to see you all again soon!

From ANN Counselor, Lesbian & Happy who wrote "Invalid Item"
Thank you for suggesting writing experiences that affected your life; and, writing to help others. That is why I write and, it helps me just to write about the most awful, lifelong painful situation; when I wrote this item, it was the first time I faced and put words outside myself about the guilt I've carried 50 years. I am 74 this year. ANN
(((Ann))) I think I always wrong with those purposes in mind without truly realizing it. I mean, sometimes I knew, but it was more often a subconscious thing. I am glad that you are able to release that guilt --I am certain there has never been a reason for you to carry it at all. Thank you for sharing your item. I can't wait to read it and learn more of your story.

Thanks for sharing Jace. Three good items to review and I told them they were found here. Continue sharing and we will continue reviewing those you pick.

I'm not Jace, I just play him on T.V.! Actually, I'm not sure if this was meant for me or if you just responded on the wrong newsletter.

Awesome newsletter Stephenie. The truth is, it can be difficult to write sometimes but your letter has way to charm others to keep writing
Awww... Now who's the charming one? Sometimes, when writing is at its most difficult, we need it the most. It's the best way to clear my mind that I've found thus far ... just write it out to let it go for a bit.

Its informative. It certain helps in evolution as a writer
I try. I think the moment we stop evolving as writers is the same moment in which we lose hope and inspiration. We must always try to challenge ourselves and continually push the lines of our comfort zones!

Excellent Newsletter and very informative. A nice cure for writer's block or an idle mind.
I'm glad you found something positive in my rambling! Facing or reaching into ourselves can be the hardest thing, but also the most freeing and inspirational thing at the same time. I think we should all try and do it every once in a while. I know I should...
