Comedy Relief for NaNo Writers

"I'm writing a book. I've got the page numbers done."
~Stephen Wright

The deadline is approaching fast for all you NaNo writers! According to the NaNo'er List  Open in new Window., around twenty-five percent of you have finished. Congrats! You're jumping for joy! The other seventy-five percent are struggling to either get caught up or are close to finishing. At this stage, I imagine your bloodshot eyes burn, you've isolated yourself, and the grey matter is mush. What you need is a dose of humor to snap out of this sorry state. It will get you through until it starts all over again tomorrow.

So, sit back and enjoy a few laughs. Below are a mix of comedy gems to motivate the grey matter to finish your masterpiece.

*Buttonforward*   Pin this handy routine to your fridge--it might snap you out of your zombie-like state.

*Bullet* Go for a walk to clear your head.
*Bullet* Come back and eat. . . eat some more.
*Bullet* Make a soothing cup of tea.
*Bullet* Make another one.
*Bullet* Go back for something stronger.
*Bullet* Watch umpteen videos on YouTube
*Bullet* Roll back the covers of your bed. Lie down. The pillows are so soft. Close your bloodshot eyes. Relax. Stay there for as long as you like--until you start to shake, hyperventilate, and pee a little.
*Bullet* Get up and go for a walk and never come back. . . okay, come back and finish the blasted novel!

*Bullet*

*Buttonforward*   Enjoy a couple of jokes about writers. If you've heard them before, too bad.

A hungry lion was roaming through the jungle looking for something to eat. He came across two men. One was sitting under a tree reading a book; the other was typing away on his typewriter. The lion quickly pounced on the man reading the book and devoured him. Even the king of the jungle knows that readers digest and writers cramp.

A visitor to a certain college paused to admire the new Hemingway Hall that had been built on campus.

"It's a pleasure to see a building named for Ernest Hemingway," he said.

"Actually," said his guide, "it's named for Joshua Hemingway. No relation."

The visitor was astonished. "Was Joshua Hemingway a writer, also?"

"Yes, indeed," said his guide. "He wrote a check."

*Bullet*

*Buttonforward*   Since you have no time to read a newspaper, here are a few headlines you missed.

*Bullet* Panda Mating Fails; Veterinarian Takes Over

*Bullet* Stolen Painting Found By Tree

*Bullet* Typhoon Rips through Cemetery; Hundreds Dead

*Bullet* Man Struck By Lightning Faces Battery Charge

*Bullet* Something Went Wrong in Jet crash, Experts Say

*Bullet* Two Sisters Reunited After 18 Years in Checkout Line

*Bullet* New Study of Obesity Looks for Large Test Group

*Bullet* Astronaut Takes Blame for Gas in Space

*Bullet* Is There a Ring of Debris Around Uranus?

*Bullet*

To wrap this comedy break up, add these funny YouTube links to the other umpteen you watch. The first one is about a real-life Ninja kitten--it's a bit long, but it's entertaining! The second one is an awesome comic series about a cat named Simon. If you don't like cats, ( hey, what's wrong with cats? ) check out the third link! Enjoy!

Hopefully, this comedy moment cleared some of the fog surrounding you at this time. Now, get back and finish the blasted novel!

All the best to the NaNo writers--it will be great to have you back with us soon!

Write On and Laugh!

Feedback:

Ẃeβ࿚ẂỉԎḈĥ Author Icon:  Wonderful Newsletter, Lornda. Poetry and comedy do have a place together. The quick yet humorous rhymes can bring laughter in mere moments of a busy day. They fit perfectly into a work-break and make the rest of the day more pleasurable. If you have a chance to laugh each day, it will make the boring tasks seem a little easier. Thanks for the highlight of ""Vampire Dreams"Open in new Window. I appreciate it! *Bigsmile* ~~WW

Thanks for your comments and wonderful advice! I'm going to try writing rhyming poetry one day--um. . . on second thought I think I'll save the world from that torture and leave it to the experts around here! *Laugh* You're very welcome for the highlight!

LJPC - the tortoise Author Icon:  Thanks for the NL, Lornda! I loved the quote from Gilbert K. Chesterton (I googled him to learn more), and I thought your advice on comic poetry was spot on. Looking forward to your next NL! *Bigsmile*~~ Laura

I had a laugh at that quote too---it fit so well with the topic of comic poetry! It seems there's a quote for everything these days! Thanks for writing in! *Smile*
