Contests and Activities Need YOU!

Fighting a bit of a slouch in my own writing, I wonder how many other writers have trouble finding the muse and time to write in summer. I know of at least one contest and one activity that are taking a break over summer.

Slowing down a contest or activity can have many reasons:

*Pointright* Absentee Host - Nothing like a judge who never shows back up once you submitted a story to turn you off from ever entering again.

*Pointright* A prompt that is too complex or too specific to garner a lot of attention.

*Pointright* An activity that has so many rules, it takes hours to understand them.

*Pointright* Nobody shows up.

*Boat* Contests and activities need participants to sail smoothly.

*Boat* Many contests ask for a minimum number of entrants to give out prizes. The reason for that is simply that there isn't any real competition if there are only two entries. Yes, one may be better than the other, but it's not much of a contest.

*Boat* Auctions need donations and bidder. Nothing like a last minute bidding war, hovering over that mouse to be the last one to put the winning bid in on that popular package.

*Boat* Raffles need ticket buyers. Technically, fewer tickets sold sounds like higher odds, but since the pot grows through ticket sales, it also becomes so much more satisfying to be the winner! *Shamrock*

*Bird* So, come out of the pool. Take a break from the beach, or from sledding if you're on the south half of the globe, and write a little, play a little.

Submitting Contests and Activities Works!
As a bit of a follow up to my last newsletter "Gain Exposure for Your ItemsOpen in new Window., I am presenting you my editor's picks. The first six are submissions via the little feedback box at the bottom of each newsletter.

I'd like to call your attention to a new challenge that is taking place in the WDC Contest Forum. The reason I mention it is because it's a new kind of challenge which I've never seen before. I've entered TONS of contests during my time here at WDC, but this is the first one like this. It's a blogging challenge which lasts for 30 days, from July 1st to July 30th. That's right! If you'd like to check it out and in the process read some great entries, take a look at the site:
