On this site you found all that you had searched for: Portfolio space, helpful reviewers, encouraging groups, style and grammar lessons from peers. But nothing had prepared you for the amazing bounty of: Contests & Activities |

Good Writers are Avid Readers
There are many quotes by people alive and dead that tell you the plain truth: in order to be a good writer, you must read, read, and read more. Reading increases your vocabulary, it gives you new ideas, and it's a wholesome past-time in any case. Writing.Com is the ultimate reading group. From Haikus to epic novels, you can read to your heart's content on Writing.Com with new works being added by the minute.
Reading the work of writers on their way to publication, learning from each other and making the jump to publication is at the heart of Writing.Com. Nonetheless, it helps to stay in touch with published works also. There are the obvious bestsellers, but also many books in all genres that deserve slow and meticulous study. Find out what made it so that those books are published. What do you have to do to get to that point?
Members of Writing.Com host groups and forums to bring together readers and critics of published works. Check them out. Building on last week's "WDC IPhone App & Product Reviewing" by ~WhoMe???~ with product reviews, I encourage you to seek out groups which turn our world-wide community into a cozy group to read a book together for enjoyment and critique. |

Most published authors will agree on two tips of advice for those hoping to get published.
#1. Write (as much as possible)
#2. Read (in genre writing in and in general)

All For Love is for those who need encouragement when they don't think their work is good enough, those who need that creative spark for when their mind has run out of matches, and for those who want to share and have fun!
This group is centered around those who wish to be published (whether they've already had something published or not), and those who are willing to help reach that goal.
