Letter from the editor

STEPH: Welcome to Writing.com's Romance/Love Newsletter this month. Can you tell us a little about yourself?

TAMI: I love to read, and I love to write. It is a pleasure to write books that take readers to another place, another time, and offer them ... possibilities. There is no limit to where the imagination can go.

Tami Dee, romance author

I am a member of Romance Writers of America, Desert Breeze connections, Celtic Hearts Romance Writers, and San Francisco Area Romance Writers.

STEPH: Can you tell us a little about your Viking series, The Mists of Time?

TAMI: This four book series took five years to complete. It spans thirteen years of the Nabboddrson brothers' lives. As you may suspect, by the time I typed the last line in book four, Through A Viking Mist, I felt as if I were saying good bye to members of my family, rather than fictional characters. The series is a Time travel, romantic adventure, Dark Ages/Our Times. Legends, honor, trust, betrayal, and true love which stands the test of Time, this series has it all.

STEPH: Can you tell us a little about the inspiration behind the series?

TAMI: Book one, Under A Viking Moon, was born from a dream. The funny thing is, the book is nothing like the dream I had, yet that dream inspired me to begin the journey. Honestly, when I started this book, I never thought it would become a four book series. My books are character driven. I have a thought, an inkling of an idea, and my characters dictate the rest. Leif's brothers, Davyn, Balmung, and Ofeig, were complete surprises to me. Once their names hit my word document, I knew that they would demand their own happily ever after. And I have to say, I was thrilled to give it to them.

STEPH: What's your latest, Through a Viking Mist about?

TAMI: Through A Viking Mist is Ofeig's story. Ofeig has been a warrior his entire adult life, always searching for .... something. Family is important to him, yet he only reaches out to his family when the desolation and emptiness of his chosen lifestyle becomes too much to bear and he needs to re grasp his humanity.

Book Cover for Through a Viking Mist

Eva Samsdottir, 'The Protector' is a magnificent Valkyrie. Eva's innocence came to a devastating end when her family was attacked and slain during a brutal raid. She single handily saves the women and children of her village who had been captured and would have been sold as slaves. With nothing to lose, Eva sets out to save others as she had those from her village.
She and Ofeig meet on a bloodied battlefield, both determined to claim the rich land as their own.

But, as often happened with the Nabboddrson brothers, Time stepped in and thrust them both into the future.

Whether the two Dark Age warriors could survive the future world and find love and redemption was something only Time would tell.

STEPH: How long have you been writing?

TAMI: Only about five or so years. I have dyslexia and although I have had story's running through my head since I can remember, trying to get those stories from my head to paper is daunting to say the least.

STEPH: Tami, I think it's amazing that you were able to write these stories with your dyslexia. That's very inspiring. What attracts you to Vikings?

TAMI: What's not attractive about Vikings? Lol. But seriously, I can't answer that question. My dream was about a Viking ship, and I wrote a story about Vikings. *shrug*

STEPH: How long have you been publishing?

TAMI: Under A Viking Moon was published about five years ago. The publishing house it was through went out of business and it took a bit of time for it to find a new home at Desert Breeze Publishing. I can't tell you how happy I am to be a part of Desert Breeze, my Mists of Time books have all gone on to be Desert Breeze best sellers and I hope that this final book, Through A Viking Mist, does the same. <gee>

STEPH: What's your writing space like?

TAMI: In my bed, under the covers, with my lap top. That's it.

STEPH: Where can we find you on the Internet?

TAMI: My web site is www.tamidee.com
I have a face book page, http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?ref=profile&id=100000198842347
And a twitter, http://twitter.com/AuthorTamiDee
I also follow Desert Breeze blog. http://desertbreezepublishing.blogspot.com/

STEPH: Do you have any words of wisdom for aspiring romance writers?

TAMI: Just do it. Write to your heart's content, move forward; don't agonize about and revisit each and every sentence, paragraph, scene, or chapter. Just write what you're moved to write, and once you have finished your story, then go back and smooth it out. Works every time.

STEPH: If you have any questions for Tami, send them in. I'll forward them to her and I'll post the answers in my newsletter in April.
