The Joust Of Horror

Hear Ye! Hear Ye!

Do you care to joust, sir?

Do you care to joust with me, sir?

A horror joust, to be sure; a joust where one knight, using his creepy and horrific writing skills, attempts to unseat another with his all-mighty-pen *Writing*. Any and all 'would-be' knights may enter for a chance to become The Supreme Knight (which is, as of this writing, me...(yea...) *Cool*).

It is called the "Invalid ItemOpen in new Window. by Nomar Knight Author Icon, and it has become one of my favorite pastimes here at Writing.Com. If you like writing Fiendish Flash Fiction, or if you like writing Shocking Short Stories, then this is the contest for you.

But I digress. Let's hear what Nomar Knight Author Icon, the brilliant creator of this sinister and hair-raising contest has to say...

"Welcome Knights, one and all, to Nomar Knight's Joust of Horror. I will provide a monthly prompt and the newest Knights will enter their flash fiction stories of (300 - 500 words) two weeks later, their stories grow muscles, meaning, you will rewrite your Flash piece into a much larger work. The best 1500 - 3000 word story will joust to the death with Nomar Knight's version of the same prompt.

The beauty of this Tournament is that you will be rewarded *Gold* for Characterization Development, Plot Improvement, and best of all, when you're done, you just might defeat the evil Nomar Knight Author Icon, but... congratulations are due to billwilcox for taking my crown. He should hence forth be called,
Sir William."

So there you have it wanna-be-Knights. This is a chance of a lifetime, a chance to scatter my entrails across the field of battle. Many may enter, many have tried, but only the best shall win out the day.

Do you have what it takes to unseat me? We shall see...we shall see. *Wink*

Who dares to joust?

I'll be waiting. *Smirk* *Pthb*

Until next time,

billwilcox

Amazing, how powerful dreams resonate with us, Bill. We can get a lot of mileage out of them!

Great newsletter, I agree; Dreams are a link to the creative muse.
Kind regards,

Another awesome newsletter, Bill! I always look forward to reading yours . All this talk of dreams makes me think back to the theories of Freud and the surrealists of the early 20th century, who sought to use dreams and the subconscious for their artistic pursuits. There's no reason why the writer shouldn't do the same.

Fantastic NL, Bill! I've always wondered the same thing and dreams can be an amazing source of inspiration!

Howls:
Loved your piece on dreams... So true! I feel that my best story ideas come from mine or others dreams. I've been fascinated with dreaming since childhood and study all I can on it! Very cool to hear another say that it is a great way to craft stories.

Shrieks:
Really interesting NL this week, Bill. Now if only I could remember my dreams!*Laugh*
