So Little Time, So Much to Enter!

WDC's birthday is right around the corner. So what will you do about entering all the fun contests in a short time?
Here are a few clues:

1) Decide how much time you can actually devote to the contests. Don't overcommit and end up missing a deadline.

2) Review all the offerings available and make a priority list of the ones you'd like to enter.

3) Chart the beginning and final dates for contest entries.

4) Begin with the contests which have the shortest amount of time to enter. Be sure to get your entries in on time and qualify for the contest. Things like including a word count can be overlooked and disqualify your hard work!

5) Be sure to write down all the places you've entered. Even if you don't win, it's good sportsmanship to congratulate the winners. If you forget to write them down, most contests are held in forum items, check your posts in the Site Navigation panel > My Places > My Posts. This lists all the posts you've made in forum items.

6) Have fun!

There's nothing like a flurry of contests to get your muse working and create some new work. Even if you entry isn't a winner, the entry is a great springboard to improve the work after the contest and write a better story. Some of my favorite stories have come from contests I've entered.

Jump right in and join the birthday fun starting next week. It's a great way to find new contests, meet other members and participate in community events. *Smile*

Ask & Answer

This month's question: Have you tried to create a madlib? Create a new madlib and email the link to me, I'll feature it in a future newsletter.

Last month's question: Do you plan on having a birthday contest? Do you plan on participating in the birthday celebrations?

Emaan Author IconMail Icon: I like to participate in birthday celebrations. Its fun to be young.

THANKFUL SONALI Library Class! Author IconMail Icon: *What country are you from and how did you find us?*
I love being asked this question, Leger! I'm in India. I had a poem to share and couldn't share it with known people since it was very emotional and personal. I'm not very net-savvy but I went online and searched 'free poetry contest'. (I have no credit card, to pay online.) Some sites came up. I clicked on a few, they weren't really free, and I was starting to get skeptical, when I clicked "Writing Dot Com". Voila! They never asked for $$ and I had an online port! *Delight* Sonali

Quick-Quill Author IconMail Icon: I am thinking of a good word search that show my feelings about WDC.

Thanks for the feedback!
