What is a mystery? It's like a puzzle. A reader has to discover the secret or riddle in order to solve it and find out who the criminal or enemy is. Clues are imperative, but should be puzzling. Make a reader have to think by using a strong plot that paints a picture in the reader's mind, yet leaves them guessing.
What is your idea of a good mystery? Is it a cozy mystery with less action, a hard-boiled detective mystery, an amateur detective mystery, or one not mentioned here? |

This weeks newsletter is a tribute to Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson...two very talented individuals who are Gone Too Soon.
While Michael Jackson is noted for his musical talent, his life was a mystery to many. The media constantly found something to keep fans puzzled, attacking his every move. However, his devoted fans, family, and friends were not influenced by the attacks. May he rest in peace.
Farrah Fawcett's popularity began with the hit detective series, Charlie's Angels. She played the role of Jill Munroe. Fans were introduced to a new mystery every week. Farrah moved on to heighten her career with films like Small Sacrifices, The Burning Bed, and Extremities, all excellent mysteries and dramas. I have to say that Small Sacrifices was my personal favorite. Farrah did a fantastic job of portraying Diana Downs, who attempted to murder her three children because the love of her life, portrayed by actor Ryan O'Neill, did not want children. Diana told authorities that a stranger murdered one of the children, and that the other two were permanently handicapped by the mysterious stranger who had tried to kill all of them. Why was she being accused of the crime? That's for viewers to figure out. After all, she was a loving mother who would never harm her children, she told the officials. The film captured my interest from beginning to end, and is the perfect mystery in my opinion.
**If you have a good mystery you would like read, post it here or email me. I just love a good mystery! **
