"I had thought — I had been told — that a 'funny' thing is a thing of a goodness. It isn't. Not ever is it funny to the person it happens to. Like that sheriff without his pants. The goodness is in the laughing itself. I grok it is a bravery... and a sharing... against pain and sorrow and defeat."

Spring Cleaning
We've all felt it, I think: that suspicion that, maybe, we have too much junk lying around and it's time to clear some of it out, tidy things up, let the fresh spring breezes in.
Me, when I get that urge, I usually go play a video game or write a newsletter. After all, what kind of idiot cleans when the weather's so gosh-darn nice?
Fortunately for me and the Health Department, my wife actually enjoys cleaning. I know, right? But it's not the first time I've been involved with someone with a few loose lugnuts. In fact, I don't remember when I wasn't. (But the last few have been wobbly in the direction of not wanting to do housework.)
The other day, the weather was especially nice, and I emerged from my dungeon, blinking in the light of our bedroom. I looked around. Something was different. Something... fundamental. "Honey?"
"Yes, my handsome, virile and absolutely perfect darling?"
"Did you... commit a neatness in here?"
"I did, but don't worry, I didn't throw out any of your comic books this time."
"Phew."
"I also dusted behind the nightstands."
I felt my brow knit in deep puzzlement. "Dear, did you just use 'dust' as a... verb?"
I'm still looking for my lucky socks. My current theory is that they exploded into dust, hence the "dusting."
In any case, there is certainly comic potential behind the ritual of spring cleaning. After all, neat, tidy and organized people never make the kind of interesting discoveries I do.
Unless they also happen to be archaeologists. |

In my last newsletter, "Comedy Newsletter (February 11, 2009)" , I wrote of the importance of Singles Awareness Day.
Shaziane : I'd go out...but I'd miss WDC too much...oh well. Too bad there isn't a bar on here...lol
Thanks for the laughs
Oddly..I've never felt pathetic. I celebrate it with my mom and I say so proudly. Roses..someone else needs the money, chocolate..I like a little cushion, I'm blunt unles on the net and so are my yea, the rest...yea...let's ignnnore those.
I was wondering about your wife and I read '09's Single Awarenes Newsletter.. *shakes head*
Fortunately, my "sense" of "humor" is one reason my wife married me. What the other reasons were is a mystery to me.
Acme (quoting me) "Come out of your mother's basement this Saturday and walk in the world."
Yeah, it may be more applicable to gamers, but hey, a lot of singles ARE gamers.
andromeda Ah ha! I agree! I am single and I really don't like those romance films. And sadly I still live with my parents.
Not that there's anything wrong with that.
That's all from me this month! Until next time, keep it clean and
