For those of you not looking to rekindle a fire and to add the words of love to your writing, your regularly scheduled editor will be back next week. I'm sure there is more than one person reading this newsletter that made a resolution to return that loving feeling back into their relationship. Since I'm not an avid reader of romance novels I figured I would pick a topic that I know something about, which I already hinted towards in the last sentence.
First let me start off by asking and then inputing my own answers to a few questions about love.
1.Is sending flowers and/or gifts to your significant other “just because” love?
I believe this is a sad, unimaginative way to show love but there are more memorable, more endearing ways to prove your feelings. It doesn't take a writer or a poet to jot down a simple note and place it where your love can find it. I once used a grocery list to write “I love you” as an item we needed at the store. Of course she couldn't buy love at the store but she knew I was thinking of her while she was shopping.
2.Is saying “I love you” more than once a day without provocation love?
It is, but then again wouldn't those three words mean more if you were to show them instead of telling them?
With those two questions, you get a feeling for what I think love is and with the second question you know there is other things involve in love than just saying it. As people we can show/express love in many different forms; candlelight, fireplace, bear skin rugs and champagne with the person you share the most intimate of feelings with. As writers we can extend that heartfelt passion in our words on gift cards, greeting cards, letters and poetic verse and prose. Show your special person that you have fallen in love with them all over again.
