WHILE THE WORLD SLEEPS
Another day has come and gone
and somehow I made it through;
I tried so hard to concentrate
yet my thoughts were all of you.
It doesn't seem quite right
that things happened this way;
There is more loss than gain
since you said you couldn't stay.
In the silence of the night,
listen as a lost soul weeps;
Teardrops stain my pillow
while the world sleeps.
Morning comes - and mourning;
I must face whatever lies ahead.
It takes every bit of courage
not to face the day with dread.
The pain of losing you cuts deep
and yet I know I must survive -
to try and make the best of it,
find some good in being alive.
In the silence of the night,
listen as a lost soul weeps;
Teardrops stain my pillow
while the world sleeps.
Sometimes I dream of tomorrow
and I see the sun shine through;
a quiet walk on a sandy beach
in a world that's good and true.
If I can just bear the sorrow,
look for better days to come;
I may be able to forget you
when all is said and done.
In the silence of the night,
listen as a lost soul weeps;
Teardrops stain my pillow
while the world sleeps.
