Why Should You Host a Reviewing Contest?
There are many great reasons to host a reviewing contest on Writing.Com:
Your entrants earn themselves a chance to be on the Writing.Com Top 100 Reviewers list.
Your entrants earn themselves a chance to be on the Writing.Com Top 100 Most Credited Reviewers list and thus earn an official Writing.Com badge.
Your entrants will be able to earn GPs from Writing.Com for every review over 250 characters.
Your entrants will gain exposure for themselves and generate in-kind reviews from those who have been reviewed by them.
You up the amount of quality reviews on Writing.Com and the number of people giving quality reviews.
Sure, it sounds easy enough, doesn't it? But it is still a lot of work to host a review contest on Writing.Com. There are many different ways you can host a contest of this caliber:
Have contestants review as many unreviewed items as possible to earn credit towards becoming a winner.
Have contestants review as many items as possible, giving extra credit for special items, such as unreviewed items, items by newbies, or items by other members also participating as a reviewer.
Offer prizes such as reviewing merit badges, gift points, or reviewer credits for reviews that meet the requirements of your contest. Or, all of the above!
You'll have to track all of the reviews, so make sure you can commit to the process! Or, enlist others to help you. You can offer incentive to make sure that your assistants commit to the project for the long-haul, such as a judging merit badge or gift points.
Do you have what it takes to host a reviewing contest, especially one that benefits newbies and unreviewed items? Submit your item below and I'll be sure to feature it in my next issue!
