Quizzes
Quizzes are created by members and come in two forms; graded and weighted. Graded quizzes are standard right and wrong questions. In weighted quizzes, there are no wrong answers and each question adds to your total score. Have fun!
A step-by-step guide to creating a Quiz
Step 1:
Click on "Writing" at the very top of any WDC page, and then click on "Quizzes" within the Writing: Interactive Section. (Or you can click on "Create an Item" within the Site Tools selection in the Site Navigation Tool at the left of the screen.)
Step 2:
Choose a topic. Any topic will do!
Step 3:
Enter the title and brief description. Rate it according to its contents, and select genres and keywords (to make the item pop up when members browse genres or search for specific words).
Step 4:
Write your item body, which should include a general description of your quiz. Here you can explain the topic and any information your reader will need to complete the quiz.
Step 5:
Choose a scoring type:
Correct Answers - Just like a standard multiple choice quiz, each question has one correct answer.
Weighted Answers - With this option, there are no right or wrong answers. Each answer has a different weight, or number value, assigned to it. When submitted, the total is tallied and that sum falls within a range that determines the final result.
A few things to keep in mind:
1. Show answers? It is up to you whether you want to share the correct or weighted answers. This may allow viewers to see how their score was tallied, or to learn the correct answers.
2. Single or Multiple Submissions? You may set the quiz so that viewers can take it only once, or over and over. Each option has its merits and disadvantages.
3. Scoreboard Showing the scoreboard allows viewers to see their standing among all quiz takers. The scoreboard will show each viewer's score as the percentage of correct answers.
4. Variety creates fun for all! It's a good idea to mix difficulty levels within your quiz. Include easier, general questions as well as tougher, more specific questions. A good mix will allow invite people to enjoy your quiz!
Did you know?
Quizzes can hold up to 1,000 questions!
The Quiz Bank option allows you to enter many questions which will be shown randomly upon viewing. This option allows your viewers to take the quiz again and again with different questions each time!
You can customize responses! In addition to your viewer learning their score, you can include a response message, too. Quiz items can hold up to 25 responses and can include WritingML and even images! Using creative responses can add to the experience for your viewers!
