Word Searches
Word Searches are fun word puzzles where participants seek to find specific words within a block of jumbled letters.
Topics can be varied from personal preferences to words having to do with a specific idea. For instance, if I were to create a word search puzzle about myself, I might include words like "writer, photographer, music, spider, journalist," etc. If the topic of "Weddings" was chosen, words like "dress, bride, cake, ceremony, church," etc. would fit.
Word searches can be very fun to create as well as to participate in. The key is to be creative and consistent with your theme.
A step-by-step guide to creating a Wordsearch
Step 1:
Click on "Writing" at the very top of any WDC page, and then click on "Word Search" within the Writing: Interactive Section. (Or you can click on "Create an Item" within the Site Tools selection in the Site Navigation Tool at the left of the screen.)
Step 2:
Choose a topic around which to base your word search. It can anything! Use your imagination!
Step 3:
Enter the title and brief description. Rate it according to its contents, and select genres and keywords (to make the item pop up when members browse genres or search for specific words).
Step 4:
Enter the story behind your word search. This could be what inspired you to create this particular item, or any message relating to the word search.
Step 5:
Enter the words for your word search.
A few things to keep in mind:
1. Only letters of the alphabet are accepted! No punctuation or numbers are accepted.
2. Vary your words! There is a 20 character limit. Shorter words can actually be more difficult to find! The game randomly chooses words to make them fit in the puzzle, so if you have too many large words or phrases, they will not always be chosen for each puzzle.
Did you know?
Each puzzle is different! The gameboard is generated randomly each time a person views it, so the words are almost never hidden in the same place twice!

My last newsletter gave information on Product Reviews.
Hi Spidey
Good, informative newsletter. I did a product reveiw just last week. It had been a while since I had done one and I had to search quite a while for the ASIN before finally finding it. I have purchased a few good books from Amazon due to product reviews on Writing.com. Thanks for this informative newsletter.
Larry ~ larryp
