Writing.com is about sharing. Many wonderful authors on site shared their experiences and their knowledge in article after article concerning the heart of Writing.com: writing, reading, rating, and reviewing.

There was a problem, however, in locating all of this extensive information. It was necessary (as I soon found out!) to go through voluminous amounts of items to pick and choose the work pertinent to these subjects.

My first impression during this search was

"It has to be easier than this to be useful!"

To make it easier, I attempted to make a `one stop shopping' mall of information. The StoryMistress suggested I put the information into journal form. Thank you!

And thank you, too, to all of the wonderful authors here who took the time to write the information in the first place.

Writing Tips and Resources are Available on Writing.Com

And thank you, Animatqua, for compiling all these resources into one item. It had to take a tremendous amount of time, and it is appreciated. I advise anyone who has ever had a 'how do I?' question to put this item into your favorites so it will be handy whenever you need an answer. The articles cover as many subjects as there are questions on writing, and you're sure to find your answer.

I listed only a smidgeon of the titles available. Each opens to its own page with links to related articles. This is the most comprehensive list of resources I've found and Animatqua deserves much kudos for putting it together. Google is nice, but let's support our own members and their efforts first. These articles were written especially for you and should be recognized and used. Instead of entering your keywords into Google, enter them into Power Search to find the information you need.

Submitted Comment: hi esprit,
technically i'm not a newbie, but am one really speaking.
i'm still more of a reader than writer. there is so much to do on this site, that i really get overwhelmed.
sincerely,
nita

Hi, Nita - There are more readers than writers according to site statistics, and that's to be expected. If you always leave a comment the authors will appreciate it. Readers congregate where there is good stuff to be read and lots to do, right?

Submitted Comment: Your newsletter made me feel better about my involvement at writing.com. I have been reading and reviewing more than writing. I hope to make more progress into the writing area of the site, but your comments on this newsletter helped me feel less guilty about my lack of writing progress. Thank you.

I'm glad it helped. I came to realize some members were feeling the same way and I wanted to assure them it was okay to just read, and that they were among the majority of members. Writers will always need readers. You are involved in a very important way as long as you leave a comment to the author. It doesn't need to be long and technical, just a quick

Submitted Comment: I would have to disagree. Not everyone can write, it is an incredibly difficult process that requires ambition, raw talent, a knack for the language, the ability to turn a phrase, and experience. Some people have the first part down, but the have just lived very boring lives, and because of it, have nothing to write about. Then there are those that have witness awesome things, have developed a board and nail philosophy that stands against the wind; but they lack the tools of expression. Not everyone can be a good writer, and no one can teach anyone else to be one; it is simply something that one develops almost on an unconscious level. Good newsletter!

In case you were wondering, I've been offline for a while, and as a result, have accumulated a massive load of emails that I am just now going through.

You're absolutely right that it's a difficult process, and natural talent smooths the journey. Thank you and yes, I did wonder where you were. I'm glad to see you back!

The Sitewide Stats page says you two readers have LOTS of company here: reader-members outnumber writers almost 2:1.

Considering the suggestions in each review on their own merits is good advice. Reviews are not an abundant commodity.

You would think reviews would be abundant, wouldn't you? 2:1. If all these readers left comments, even short ones, we could level these statistics out.

Submitted Comment: I have to admit I do far more reading and reviewing then writing. It isn't that I don't enjoy writing or I think my writing isn't good enough (Well actually I don't but that is another story :)) It is that I want to give back to the writing community. Every time I post a good, quality review that helps another writer out, I feel as if I contributed something to someone else.

Reviewing is by far the most important contribution anyone could make to a writer.

Submitted Comment: How is it I am new to the sight that I seem not to be able to communicate with the people who write on this sight in order to complament the ones I like to read and enjoy I am not one for chatting I just like to give my respect to good writers.

I'm not sure what you're asking but, using the comment/review box at the bottom of the items will take your comments directly to the author. They'd love to hear from you.

Submitted Comment: This newsletter (as well as others) have been quite helpful. I am probably the newest and most ignorant newbie here, so I need ALOT of help. I'm only 14, but hope I have potential. ;) Thanks for your bit of help!

*Delight* Hi, there, and Welcome! I'm glad the letter is helpful.
