In & Outs
a Jack of all trades item type

One of my favorite item types on Writing.com (beside the Static item, of course) is the In & Out. There are so many of them, and so many different uses for them! I thought I'd use this newsletter to explain why I love them so much! *Heart*

*Exclaim* In & Outs are available to all membership levels.

That's right. No matter if you're using a free membership, or an Enterprise membership, you can create an In & Out. Because of this, it allows you to be able to do an unlimited amount of interactive things, in example:

*Exclaim* In & Outs are great for all types of games.

You can use them to play word games, create silly stories by allowing members to only contribute so many words, answer a question with another question, make a guess on trivia. Even if your game isn't a contest, you can still offer rewards to players for their entries!

*Exclaim* In & Outs are great for sharing!

Other Writing.com members can leave you a message, like a guest book. Or you can use an In & Out to post your newest work. You can have other members post items they want read or seen in an In & Out.

*Exclaim* In & Outs are great for contests!

This is an especially great thing for members who aren't able to utilize the Message Forum item type, because of membership level restrictions. In & Outs can hold up to 100 different posts, so you can host a contest without a problem.
What happens if you get more than 100 entries? If you're worried about it, you can move qualifying entries to a static item and delete them from the In & Out. The older entries will reappear, if there were more than 100.

*Note* How do I create an In & Out?

Go to the Writing link at the top of any page. In the Interactive items section, select In & Out.

There's also a great guide to creating In & Outs, featured in my Editor's Picks below!

*Note* Where do I find In & Outs?

Go to the Reading link at the top of any page. In the Interactive items section, select In & Out. From there, you can sort it any which way you'd like to view the ever growing list of In & Outs on Writing.com!

Ask & Answer

I wanted to take a moment to apologize for my issue last month. I was in process of writing the newsletter earlier that weekend, was editing it on my computer, and went to post my completed version on Tuesday afternoon. Being just shy of my second trimester of pregnancy, I was still having some "morning sickness" issues, got sick, and had to spend some time away from the computer.

By the time that I got back, I then had connection difficulties and was not able to make it back online until Wednesday afternoon. By then, the newsletter had already been released, so I did my best to post my most completed version before too many of you got the chance to read it.

If, for some reason, you only saw the "incomplete" version of my newsletter, you can read the completed version in the newsletter archives ( http://www.writing.com/main/newsletters/action/archives/id/1560 ). Once again, I apologize for any confusion this may have caused and hope that I can continue to submit quality and completed newsletters for you to read! *Wink*
