Resolution
To be resolute means solving or ending a problem or difficulty. In horror, that means killing off the evil monster. When writing your tomb you've got to define the situation, introduce the evil, the protagonist, and then resolve it. You have to be determined, purposeful, and unwavering. Read what these authors have said.
Ralph Waldo Emerson: "When a resolute young fellow steps up to the great bully, the world, and takes him boldly by the beard, he is often surprised to find it comes off in his hand, and that it was only tied on to scare away the timid adventurers".
Stephen King: "True horror is the coming undone of something good".
William Shakespeare: "Be bloody bold and resolute".
“And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon‘s that is dreaming.”
— Edgar Allan Poe
“Temptation is the devil looking through the keyhole. Yielding is opening the door and inviting him in.”
— Billy Sunday
“Round and round the ghosts of beauty glide, and haunt the places where their honor died.”
— Alexander Pope
“When I sleep, my spirit slips away from my body and dances naked with the devil.”
— Thomasin, “The Witch”
“Because dead people are just like you and me, they still want things. They look at us all the time, and they miss being alive.”
― Peter Straub, “The Throat”
“Beware the dark pool at the bottom of our hearts. In its icy, black depths dwell strange and twisted creatures it is best not to disturb.”
— Sue Grafton, “I is for Innocent”
“Where there is no imagination, there is no horror.”
— Arthur Conan Doyle
“Horror is like a serpent; always shedding its skin, always changing. And it will always come back.”
— Dario Argento
I only hope these quotes will give you fodder for your next bout with the unknown. Be resolute and defeat the darkness.

DEAD LETTERS
Osirantinous Capricornus
Thanks for once again highlighting 'All that Glitters, All that Glows'. It remains one of my favorite stories, ten years old now (And, belatedly, I now realize why someone was emailing me so suddenly about it!)
Quick-Quill
I have thought of this often when people deny Christmas and the Bible. Without the Bible, we would have no laws and so many things we take for granted. Try to write a story in a world with no basis for right or wrong, a way to redemption, or even the idea that it is necessary.
Beholden
Thank you very much for including my short story, that Christmas Spirit, in your Editor's Picks section.
