In a few hours, I'll be boarding a train for a 24 hour journey to meet extended family.
Since there's a lot of DRAMA within me at the moment, I thought I'd spill it out here! |

Dear Reader,
By the time this newsletter is mailed out to the community, I'll be back!
Sitting here thinking of that - of all that'll happen between keying it in and (hopefully) getting responses, my mind is getting quite boggled.
I'm going somewhere beyond an overnight or day trip after 15 years. The reason is twofold - I'm not much of a traveler anyway, and I've had detachment of retina and it's not advisable to take a flight.
So I'm going by train. It's a 24 hour journey from Bangalore to Mumbai, to meet extended family. Folks from around the globe - mainly Australia and the US of A, are going to be there. I'll be meeting one of my many nieces for the fist time! She's in university and we've never met. There's going to be a musical evening and a dinner while we're all together, aside from anything else we plan.
The 'drama' is high here now, though I'm sitting still keying in this newsletter! My mind is full of - have I locked all the doors here? Switched off whatever switches need to be off? How'll it be to meet family for the first time since Dad's passing? Will I be excited? Just manage to hold up? Break down crying? What does the city of my birth look like now? I've been told it has changed beyond recognition. Will some familiar spots look so different I'll be sorry I revisited them?
Oh - and - have I put in the suitcase keys, into my purse? Should I go check now, or keep keying in?
Er - maybe I'll stop now. Gotta check the keys.
AFTER THE TRIP
Returned this morning.
The trip was wonderful. Here's a pic from one of the dinner parties.
"Note: Dad's side of the family
12 first cousins..."
It was lovely to get to know my nephews and nieces as teenagers, having last met them when they were toddlers. Had lovely conversations about things like priorities.
The food was super. People kept asking me what I wanted to eat and making that for me! So I've had a lot of home-made meals which brought back nostalgia.
Some spots did look different, but the ones that looked the same made up for that!
I'm glad I worked up my courage and went on this trip, It was well worth it.
Thanks for listening!
