I often have good intentions and ideas where I want to do something but then... I don't. That happens with contest and activities where one can have the best of intentions but things fall through in the end. |

I always intend to enter contests.
Intend to help with different activities and events.
Intentions don't always equal action.
That is the topic for today. While we can intend to do something and mean very well, but that doesn't always mean anything will come from those intentions. I'm that way in particular with the month long contests. Ones like Writer's Cramp, well, it's a little harder to put them off because the deadline is 24 hours from when the prompt is posted. I suppose one can see the prompt, intend to enter but have it not work out. However, it's a little different when you have all month to finish something and you want to write for the contest. However, the month ends before that item gets finished. Oops.
There are many different activities that happen too. It's not just something that happens with raffles. I've even started a few things with good intentions, like an In&Out for people to post about books they are reading. But even I haven't posted in it for years. There are different raffles that go on throughout the year along with other events, like places that are trying to earn the gift points needed to pay for having merit badges created. Then there are things like crosswords and even a Secret Santa since we're in December. Many activities happen on the site and it takes people getting involved for them to have success. So, it's great when people can both have the good intentions and follow through.
There are somethings that I want to do for December. Some contests and activities that have already gotten my attention. While I also have medical reasons that may become a hinderance, it is my hope that my intentions are the starting point but not the end. Because even though it's good to intend to do something, it's even better to actually do it. Including more writing.

Have you enter intended to enter a contest or take part in a challenge but then something happens and you don't do it?

Yes, I've taken on a few writing challenges, two or three of them "big." Lilli's Promptly Poetry for instance, that has to be my favorite - a poem a week for a year. Easy enough until you hit a difficult prompt or run out of ideas. Then there was Wonderland, which was excellent. And Game of Thrones, which I hated, to be honest. But they were all wonderful in that they forced me to write and the resultant practice has given me some pieces that I'm quite proud of.
