About This Newsletter

Hello! I am 🐕GeminiGem🎁 Author IconMail Icon, one of the regular editors of the Contests & Activities Newsletter. I hear a lot about rules from both contest owners and people entering contests, so we are going to talk about them.

I

am not sure I could have found a better GIF for this newsletter (see above). A rule is a rule, and without rules there would be chaos. Thank you, Kramer from Seinfeld.

When you are putting together a contest (or activity, of course), you need to put some thought into the rules. You need to have rules to guide people on how they should craft their entries. Here are a few things to keep in mind.

*Bursto* Keep things as simple as possible. Short, to-the-point sentences are best.

*Bursto* Keep the rules organized. Make each a bullet point, and keep the subject of each bullet point consistent.

*Bursto* Pay attention to questions and feedback regarding the rules. If you get questions regarding your rules, take a hard look at how you presented that rule. Maybe it seemed clear enough to you, but it did not to someone else. See how you can improve how you write it to make it better.

Eventually, you will get it right. Your rules will be well-balanced and easy to follow. Don't hesitate to go back and change things if you aren't there yet. You may find that you will get more entries with better rules.

Feedback from my last Contest & Activities Newsletter "Death WishOpen in new Window.:

Thanks for this newsletter. I have a draft copy of a WDC will in my portfolio, and you have reminded me I need to finish it and make sure my hubby and friends know what I want to happen when I pass away. I'm a bit like you, I have a tendency to do nothing. But I must because I really don't want my writing and activities to be forgotten. It's not nice to think about this, but it is important. And, once it's done, that's it. You can forget about it.
Yes, Rach, do it! I challenge you. As a matter of fact, I have decided to run a contest that includes doing/updating your WdC will, etc. Thanks for the inspiration!
