As we wrap up the 2022 Quill Award, our 15th consecutive year, let me give you some history, information, and tips on how to get your own writing recognized.
What are The Quills?
The Quill Awards' mission is to recognize the contributions of members of Writing.Com, honor writing by presenting awards highlighting quality work, and acknowledge community involvement.
The Quills provide site-wide recognition of WdC's highest-quality work, as nominated by the community. We present unique, commissioned awards across 43 categories and up to 60 individual genres.
Who are The Quills?
You and me! We are The Quills! This is a community effort as we encourage and nominate fellow members for exclusive awards.
As the Quillmistress, my job is to keep everything organized, including fundraisers, documentation, and volunteers. The Quills are 100% volunteer-run and relies on support from the WdC Community.
The Nomination Process
Any WdC member, of any case color or length of membership, can nominate others and is eligible to be nominated for a Quill Award. However, you cannot nominate yourself, and nominations from secondary accounts are not accepted.
When you find well-written, high-quality work, unique and well-executed activities/contests, and members whose contributions are an asset to the community, you can nominate them for a Quill!
Getting your Writing and Activities Seen
You may be asking yourself how members will see your work since you are new. Well, there are many ways to get your writing seen and read by the community. Here are a few ideas:
After you've finished a story or poem, feel free to share it on the Newsfeed.
Enter contests!!! There are so many different contests running every month! Whether you write poetry or stories, there is something for everyone. Besides keeping an eye on the Newsfeed for contests that pop up, check this listing: "Writing Contests @ Writing.Com" by Writing.Com Support .
Read and review others. This can help you with your own writing and provide an opportunity to get to know other members.
Ask for reviews and promote your work!
You can post your work at this forum to request reviews - "Please Review" by Writing.Com Support
If you have something you're proud of and want members to see, you can post your writing here - "The Shameless "Plug" Page" by Writing.Com Support .
