About This Newsletter

"The day, man will find that he never really dies; that his Soul persists beyond death; he will have no more fear of death."
Swami Vivekananda

"The day which we fear as our last is but the birthday of eternity."
Seneca the Younger

"I have a certainty about eternity that is a wonderful thing, and I thank God for giving me that certainty. I do not fear death. I may fear a little bit about the process, but not death itself, because I think the moment that my spirit leaves this body, I will be in the presence of the Lord."
Billy Graham

"To the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure."
J. K. Rowling

Letter from the editor

I'm not sure at what age one traditionally begins to contemplate their own mortality. Maybe it has nothing to do with age, but rather some type of epiphany that causes a person to face the fact that their physical body wasn't intended to live forever. At that point, most begin to ask questions such as: "What happens after I die?" "Do I have an immortal soul?" "If I have an immortal soul, where does it go after it leaves my body?"

I believe my soul is immortal and that when it separates from my body it will ascend into the spiritual world. I am not sure what form my soul will take when it leaves my body, and I do not think it will matter once it is separated from my physical body. I do know I will recognize my family and friends who have already ascended into the spiritual world.

Another thing I am sure of, simply because I have read it in the Baha'i scriptures, is that my soul will continue its journey toward God. This gives me comfort and prevents me from fearing death. Since death is a part of life on the physical plane, we need to confront the mortality of our physical bodies free of fear. Another intriguing thing about the Baha'i Faith is that there are special prayers revealed to be said for the departed.

Each religion or spiritual path has its own concept of the soul and the afterlife. These beliefs help the followers of those paths brave their eventual departure from this material world. These beliefs help each individual ascend into the spiritual world, where they can continue their journey toward God.

What do you believe? Do you believe your soul is immortal? Please share.
