Be Kind
The internet became available to the public in 1993. I know personally I didn't visit the world wide web until about 1998. Many of us remember a time before the internet, though I suppose some younger folks have lived their entire lives with it at this point!
I spend most of my spare time online interacting with others, whether it's through sites like Writing.Com, or playing games, and one thing I've tried to be very careful about, it's etiquette.
It's very easy to misinterpret tone online (as well as off-line, honestly). I think it's a good idea to try to always be clear and receptive during online communications.
The number one rule, in my opinion, is to remember that there's a real person on the other end of your interaction. Remember that when hosting or entering a contest or activity. Try to let that influence the way you interact. When reviewing, remember that the writer has feelings and may be feeling vulnerable letting their personal work be shared with online strangers. When entering a contest, remember that the host is a real person with real-life deadlines and responsibilities.
In general, I think it's just a good idea to try to be kind and understanding. I think it can be easy to forget that there are real people with genuine lives and feelings on the other side of their handle and online life.
One of the things I love about Writing.Com is that there are so many kind and caring members. I've been a member of the site for over 17 years, and I've had so few negative experiences here. Our members are pretty awesome! I only hope that we all keep that awesomeness throughout the rest of our interactions online!
As always, keep on writing! And be kind!

My last newsletter, ("Contests & Activities Newsletter (September 22, 2021)" ), discussed hosting Titles. Here is some feedback from last week's Newsletter readers:
I love, love, love creating titles. I have a folder - with probably more than 50 just waiting for the rest of the words to follow.
~ Kenzie
Awesome! I'm a little jealous!
I personally like the title of my little tale. . Thanks for some good information.
~ QueenNormaJean maybesnow?!
That's a great title!
