Letter from the editor

It has been a rough, weird, and surprising year. On the first of January, many of us thought the world situation would get better. However, instead of getting better it is apparently getting worse. I am not going to list how the situation is getting worse, because most of us know. It is times like these that test our faith, which can cause us to to doubt. It is in times like this that we need to look at the gifts of God in our lives and the world around us and give thanks for these gifts.

Have you ever taken God's gifts for granted? The answer to this question is probably a resounding yes. When everything is going easy and we are not faced with tests, human beings tend to take their blessing for granted. Sometimes we forget to say thank you or forget to list our blessings. It is usually when we encounter tests and difficulties, that we remember to look for God's gifts and say thank you.

What are God's gifts? This is a question with many different answers, because each individual can answer it from their religion or spiritual path. My answer would include Baha'u'llah--the Prophet-Founder of the Baha'i Faith--knowledge, intellect, arts, manufactures of surgical mask, and science. I am especially thankful for science because of the COVID vaccine and the manufacture of the washable surgical mask I wear when I leave my house.

What are a few of God's gifts that you are thankful for? Have you written a blog entry, poem, essay, or story about any of God's gifts? If so, submit them to this newsletter.
