Our Tradition

Every culture has festivals and celebrations for special days. Here on Writing.Com, we have the first seven days of September to thoroughly party like we mean it. From September 1 through September 7, I suggest you put as much of your other things in life to the side and have fun right here on the site. It's so worth it! You can write, review, do word searches, find trinkets, earn merit badges and awards. It's a week full of activities that revolve around all of the things that make this site a perfect place for writers to mingle and create.

While the official site-run party winds down sometime on September 8, many contests and activities will stay open for your enjoyment until the end of September. Be sure to add all the contests that you want to enter to your favorites. That is easily done by clicking the plus sign next in the top right corner of each contest and activity that you like.

Writing.Com is a peer reviewing site. In the essence of it, we should spend most of our time here posting our own writing to our portfolio and reviewing other writers. In that way, we learn from each other, together, and we get better. Getting the most out of the site takes time, concentration, effort, and work.

As we all get to know each other in this virtual setting, and some even "in real life," we create a community that is like a village. Just how every village has a founder's day and the corresponding fair to go with it, this celebration of the site's anniversary is a week for all of us to really get in there and get to know each other as writers and as people.

Just how you wouldn't just walk out in the middle of a festival that is meaningful to your community, family, yourself, take the party serious enough to check in, play along, be there. It's going to be fun and colorful.

Work and life can have us back after the party.

What does it take to get listed here?

You have to add it to your portfolio for starters. I saw that you have two other things visible there, but not the book.

hbk16 wrote: It is a nice genre of writing that letsthe reader elaborate the dialogue and imagine the scene. I so want to perform in this kind of writing.

When you write without dialogue, you would elaborate on dialogue. You would find a way to tell the story without it. Give it a try.
