"Poetry is a deal of joy and pain and wonder, with a dash of the dictionary."
Khalil Gibran
"Poetry is not only dream and vision; it is the skeleton architecture of our lives. It lays the foundations for a future of change, a bridge across our fears of what has never been before."
Audre Lorde

Take Life & Link It
Today, as I did little bit of yard work, I was approached by neighbors hoping I had seen their four lost ducklings. Not a usual thing to happen in our neighborhood! Perhaps that is why it kept invading my brain—the unusualness of it.
I kept thinking how this tiny fragment of my life is a bigger part of someone else's life which led to me thinking of how I could present this in some sort of writing (poetry, story, etc.). This is how you begin adding depth to a piece of writing. Analyze your purpose for writing the piece—your theme, your story—whatever link that is guiding you. Allow this to help you create the piece of writing. Allow it to help you to choose your tools (additional links) of word choice, meter, form, etc. It will, in turn, allow you to weave that chain of depth within your piece.
Inspiration is everywhere. Use it! I want to challenge you to write a poem based on something that happened today. Pick anything—a big thing or a small thing that happened, then give it that added depth link. Choose the form I share with you below or another, or no form at all--just go write!
Mini-Monoverse and Double Mini-Monoverse
This is a more recent poetry form and award-winning poet Emily Romano invented it.
MUST HAVES
--Number of stanzas: 2 (or 4 for a double mini-monoverse)
--Line count: 5 for each stanza for a total of 10 (or total of 20 for a double)

--Meter: Syllabic—3 syllables in each line

Comment:
Korea is having a hot summer as the heat dome settles down. Not as bad as in the US.
Korean Heat Dome Blues
It is hot summertime in Korea
hiding out avoiding the damn heat
the weather is just so hot, mama mia!
dreaming of eating ice cream, such a treat
at night nothing beats having a cold drink
Trying to avoid the tropical night
the heat dome settles like a hot heat sink
Making people so crazy, want to fight
