Deep into the rabbit hole in "Wonderland" here is a short and sweet newsletter on a poem form I just found this week. I found the Boonstra Brain Function Form while scrolling through the Read and Review page.
The form was created by Jan Haag who enjoyed playing with words. She was in communication with our own WDC member b_boonstra and decided to name it after her. It was posted in her item on Poetic Forms.
How do you write the Boonstra Brain Function Form?
{c:grape) It has to do with the function of brain and body.
The lines are built up in words, not syllables.
In lines:
Line 1: 11 words
Line 2: 10 words
Line 3: 9 words
Line 4: 6 words
Line 5: 4 words
Line 6: 2 words
Line 7: 1 word.
The Form can be a single stanza, as well as a chain of stanzas.
1.
My soul is peaceful, ever calling to the controlling, revving mind,
scrambling with streams of thoughts, judgements and points of view
as a distraction from true reality and joyful flow,
thinking to protect us and survive
not knowing that thriving
begins with
emptiness
2.
a heart yearning for the unconditional love the child never received
suffering abuse of mind and body mimicking the family ways
not knowing another way out of its suffering
mind tormented with critical negative thoughts
shame and self blame
slits her
wrists
Why not try one? Post it in the response box of this newsletter.

{c:blue}"It is a wonderful letter of information on William Blake. His "Songs of Innocence" have always been a favorite of mine. His married life of forty five years and his wife's belief that her husband guided her even after his passing are simply fantastic. Thank you for this nice newsletter." |
