A Season of Giving
As December arrives, if you’re anything like me, you’re probably wondering where 2020 went. A year of nothing, but a year of so much. Contradictions run through the core of this year. I feel exhausted, and yet, I’ve done nothing. Well, almost nothing.
When my country (UK) first went into lockdown back in March, I tried to think of the positives. Those, for me, were the opportunity to sit at home every day doing nothing but writing. I can edit the thriller I wrote last year, I thought, and then write another novel before NaNoWriMo even begins. Oh, the best-laid plans, and all that jazz.
And so, I approach the end of the year feeling a little disappointed I didn’t write more (although I have managed to finish my NaNo novel). But when I really thought about it, I may not have written the great tome I’d planned, but I spent a lot of time with my friends on Writing.com. I took part in activities and contests and participated in raffles and auctions. Which made me realise what this year has been about: friends and loved ones. Okay, I know we haven’t physically been able to spend time with our loved ones this year, but we have all worked around it, finding ways to connect online and through social media.
So, now the holiday season is upon us, why not send some love to our friends on WDC? You don’t need to spend a ton of points. You can email people, send a cNote, or buy a raffle ticket. If you’re looking to be a little more extravagant, gift certificates to image shops always go down well, or even packages from review and goodies shops. Whatever you can do will help us all to remember we are part of one, big family.
And, while you're at it, why not take a look at some of the contests and activities running through this month?
