Letter from the editor

I hope everyone is doing well!

With the world beginning to reopen after the Vivid scare people are getting out. Have you ventured out yet? I have!

A few weeks ago, two friends and I decided to take a drive. They picked me up at 1:30 that afternoon and we just picked a highway. Now I live in Texas so we had a lot of places to choose from. We chose south. The only stops we made we for food, gas, bathroom and smoking breaks. We just drove. I saw a lot of Texas that I'd never seen before. It is a beautiful state!
We hit Fredricksburg around 8:30, a bit too late to get in to one of their signature German restaurants so we ended up at a fast food place. By then it was time to head home. We drove through the outskirts of San Antonio and Austin before finally heading back north. I got home at 3:30 in the morning. We drove a total of 707 miles, all while remaining in the state.

Why did I tell you this? Because even though we didn't stop and be tourists there was plenty to fill my senses with writing material. The beauty of the Texas Hill country and Austin at night. The feel of the road under the pickup wheels and feel of the air conditioning. The sound of the music on the stereo and conversation with good friends.

Even in a limited capacity once you get out all those things seem more vibrant. We've taken a few more, shorter road trips since and I hold memories from each to use in my writing.

Until next time,
~Nikola
