logging is one of the best ways to gain readers on the site. Aside from choosing to blog on your own, you can also join monthly blogging challenges. They are the interactive type of activities where participants are highly encouraged to read and comment on other participants' blogs. I met some of the most interesting writers this way which later became good friends of mine.
Even though blogging challenges don't insist on constructive responses, it is always nice to read when a writer provide deeper thoughts on the matter. After all, blogging shouldn't be as easy as making a grocery list or as simple as a straightforward answer to the prompt. The writer's job is to engage readers, therefore, a blogger's job is to engage and keep the readers as well.

Before you enter the friendly world of blogging on Writing.Com, here are some tips to keep in mind:

*Bullet* To join a blogging challenge, you must create a "BookOpen in new Window. item and, to create a book item, you need an upgraded membership. Blogging challenges require book items because these are the only items on the site that allows you interaction with other participants through the comments section.

*Bullet* Reading and commenting on other blogs will gain you views and comments on your own blog. This is a very important part of blogging on this site whose members are mostly writers like yourself. Sometimes it might be overwhelming to see more than 10 participants and you might feel like you can't keep up with all of them, but don't let this discourage you. You don't have to read and comment on every blog, every day, for a whole month. Sometimes you will find writers that fit you better than the others and you will eagerly wait to see what they have to say on a current prompt.

*Bullet* A lot of writers have an easy approach to blogging challenges. This means their primary intention is to answer the prompt plain and simple. Even though there is no right and wrong way of blogging, putting deeper and constructive thoughts is desirable—something that your readers want to read, discuss, consider, agree/disagree with. Remember, you are trying to gain readers here. You need to provide interesting content.

*Bullet* Don't shy away from different case colors. Sometimes members on the site will likely interact with the newbies (black cases) and preferred authors (yellow cases) than with moderators (blue cases) and senior moderators (purple cases). For some reason, they are shy with mods and senior mods. When I was a newbie, I didn't draw differences between the case colors mostly because I didn't understand their meaning but also because I'm usually not shy. Neither should you. Once you get to know people here you will see that we are all fun in our own, unique way.

Until next time, keep writing.

BOOK
Complex Numbers Open in new Window. (18+)
Not for the faint of art.
#1196512 by Robert Waltz Author IconMail Icon

Excerpt: Complex numbers are often represented on a graph known as the "complex plane," where the horizontal axis represents the infinity of real numbers, and the vertical axis represents the infinity of imaginary numbers. Thus, each complex number has a unique representation on the complex plane: some closer to real; others, more imaginary. If a = b, the number is equal parts real and imaginary.

BOOK
Where In The World Is Sum1? Open in new Window. (E)
I travel the country on business, sometimes the world. Come see where I've been.
#1779685 by Sum1's Home Author IconMail Icon

Excerpt: Talk about perks, my job has one of the best ones I can think of! I travel in the course of business, delivering classes for my employer. I am a Senior Training Specialist for Motorola Solutions, and teach classes on a wide variety of subjects centered around 2 way radio communications. I'm qualified to deliver approximately 30 different classes, but about half of those are 'Legacy' classes, and are not in demand anymore. My students are technicians, those who maintain, program, calibrate, and repair large 2-way radio systems. Some of these systems are statewide, and use TCP-IP networking to allow sites to communicate with others. Some are small, traditional type radio sites. The size doesn't matter, in each case the systems must be kept operational at all times, since many of them are Public Safety Systems. So I get to travel, sometimes frequently, 3-4 weeks in a row.... where am I this week?
