About This Newsletter

"Mother's DayOpen in new Window.
Written by my mother

Mother's Day has come and gone.
A day for Mothers to enjoy with their family,
They have raised and nourished;
That brought their children to be
The good men and women they turned out to be.
Both sons, daughters, and grandchildren,
Have grown into the men and women,
that I am proud of.

Letter from the editor

Mother's Day is Sunday, May 10. This year celebrating Mom's day with her and the rest of the family is a little more difficult. Difficult is not impossible; however, it does take a little more planning. If Mom isn't sheltering in place with some of her children, a phone call or a Zoom meeting is probably in order.

Send Mom a Mother's Day card. If Mom has a computer or a smartphone, perhaps two Mother's Day cards would be in order. One through snail mail and the other online. If taking Mom out to eat on Mother's Day, how about having a meal delivered to her. If you can coordinate the meal delivery and the video chat, Mom can have her Mother's Day meal while talking to her children and grandchildren.

This year we have to be a little more creative with our Mother's Day celebrations in order to protect both Mom and ourselves. If we are careful and creative we can make Mother's Day special while practicing social distancing and protecting Mom. How are you going to celebrate Mother's Day?

My mother passed on in 2012, so I will be saying a special prayer for her. I will also read some of her poems and add more of her poems to "My Mother's PoemsOpen in new Window..

Ask & Answer

shepherd46 writes: During this challenging time, I am texting family and friends, reading more of the Bible, praying a great deal during the day and studying certain people of the Bible like Moses, David and Elijah. These Biblical characters went through so much but it was their faith and trust in God that brought them through. I am finding, and I know I am not the only one, that when you go through a trial like this one, it makes you stronger. You find out how strong and brave you are when you trust in Him. (Wonderful piece!)

Quick-Quill Author Icon writes: Our church has on line services four times a week. Our branch church’s also do this so I can watch those to see others. This Easter Sunday my husband and I will dress up and drive to the parking lot of church and listen to the service there.
