About This Newsletter

*Delight* I have always had a soft spot for newbies, which is why I created "The Newbie Research CenterOpen in new Window., "Newbie Portfolio ProjectOpen in new Window., and "WDC Video Help DeskOpen in new Window.. My goal has always been to learn what newbies find most helpful and/or encouraging, and then figure out ways to DO that.

Hopefully, this will be mutually beneficial. You can help me with my goal, and I can help you learn more about WDC. Win-win.

Both newbies and non-newbies sometimes struggle with portfolio organization. Folders can be invaluable, though they do count as items themselves. If you have a 10 item free account, you probably don't need them and, therefore, don't have the option to create one. But once your port gets bigger, they can help both you and potential readers.

For those interested, there is a Help Desk video on this topic: "Create Folders & Add Items to FoldersOpen in new Window.

*Buttono* Creating the Folder

This should be familiar to anyone who has made items. There are very few differences between a Folder item and, say, a Static item. One of the big differences is that the "Body" won't be seen by most people. It's a great place to organize things for yourself, but you don't need to spend much time on that part.

Additionally, Folder item types are rated like any other item. If the folder's name, description, body text, and image are E-rated, the folder can be E-rated. If you put items in the folder that have higher ratings, the folder can still be E-rated.

The path: Create New Item > Folder (under "Basic")

*Buttono* Adding Items to Folder

To add items to the folder, you need to open the Portfolio Organizer. There are two ways to do that.

1. In the left menu, go to Portfolio > Portfolio Organizer.
OR
2. Click the gear *Gear* icon next to the word "PORTFOLIO". This appears just under your BioBlock and Highlighted items.

From here, you can drag and drop items into the folder. It might take a bit of trial and error to get them into Folders and/or Subfolders. To see it in action, go have a look at "Create Folders & Add Items to FoldersOpen in new Window..

MirandaCookies IS IN COLLEGE Author Icon - Miranda has been here for less than a month but is already getting involved, filling up her port (including Folders), and reviewing others. Drop by and check out her work.

Becca Winchester Author Icon - Becky (a big Supernatural fan, I'm guessing) has been here just about one month at the time of writing and is an active reviewer. Her port is filling up (in Folders too). Go give her a read/review.

Michael Rose🏳️‍🌈 Author Icon - Madeleine has been here a bit longer than most people I highlight... 4 months, give or take. But, she is a consistent reviewer, and in case it wasn't clear, I'm a big supporter of newbies who review. 71 reviews and counting! Go return the favor. *Heart*

These are some both pertinent and useful information about some applications set in this wonderful web.site. These are like forums and groups. Also, some interesting advice is put to new bies that are still available for all of us as authors. I really appreciate these newsletters. It is constructive. ~hbk16

Thanks, love! I try to make newsletters that contain something that could help anyone not completely addicted to WDC. Like, say, the folders this week... I've seen lots of Non-Newbies who don't have their ports organized at all. Maybe it will give them a little nudge to organize (or create a contest or whatever the newsletter is talking about). I appreciate the feedback! *Heart*
