Whether you are using a raffle, auction, or a combination of both, making your fundraiser stand out increases your possibility of earning funds.
Share the wealth
There are plenty of active groups around WdC that could use funds. Typically, those who your fundraiser supports will be willing to include packages of their own to your fundraiser and/or are likely to also advertise for you.
Add some bling
Spice up your fundraiser by giving it a theme and assign it a catchy title to match. Or you could turn it into a game, where members pay for the opportunity to play for the opportunity of winning a portion of the jackpot. A few pay per play games that were successful here, where Monopoly and Wheel of Fortune. Of course, you shouldn't use those two because they have already been done, but they are a few examples of what worked to encourage participation.
Insure fairness
If you are including a raffle, make sure to use the random dice app here on WdC. This way you can insure there is no favoritism and prove it by sharing a link to the dice roll.
Be prompt
Make sure to conduct your fundraiser during a time when you can be attentive. If you disappear for long bouts of time, it can get confusing if a lot of people submit to your fundraiser, especially if it is an auction. Many people understand that life happens, but if too often their bid goes unnoticed, they are less likely to support your fundraiser.
Protect the Anonymous
Some people prefer to be anonymous when buying for a secret pal or as a secret santa. Allow for them to send you an e-mail when purchasing and check your e-mail often. Then when they make a purchase, post a message in the forum tagging the recipient. This shows the purchaser that you did add it to your fundraiser and also makes the recipient aware to. In addition, it gives the recipient an opportunity to thank the gifter where they can view it easily.
