This is a great story. Magic that protects and guides wayward travelers. I've never considered a heart-pumping scare to be a good thing. Imagine the arrogance, the stupidity of the hiker believing no one in 2007 could become lost. Is a moment of inattention or distraction all it takes for a hiker to become disoriented? I believe sudden changing weather conditions create a sense of urgency. Thanks for the read!
