ALL I HAVE TO DO IS DREAM: award winner [E] The poet’s dream of a peaceful world |
Namaste, Gupta ji! This one showed up on 'Read and Review'. The title and brief description had me imagining something in the poem to come, and then I saw the genres and realised it was to be something else! Well, you wrote it a long time ago, but it is still relevant today, so I'll go ahead and review it. You paint a wistful picture of a world which is so desirable - and even possible, if everyone worked unitedly for it. It's unfortunate that narrow, short-term gains mean more to some people than the overall well-being of the planet and its inhabitants. The rhyme scheme, verse structure and words chosen bring your message across powerfully. I must admit, while I've heard the term "Weapons of Mass Destruction" several times, I haven't come across the short form WMD before and actually had to look it up! I appreciate the note you've given at the conclusion of the item, to put the poem in context. Suggestions: 1. Due to the level of violence you describe, I'd suggest you change the content rating to 13+. 2. Somehow, the poem seems to end a bit abruptly. I think I'd have liked one more verse to sort of up it all up, if you know what I mean. Write On! - Sonali "JULY 2022 challenge!" My review has been submitted for consideration in "Good Deeds Get CASH!" .
