What a beautiful way to turn tragedy into hope and even joy! To appreciate what has been, instead of lamenting what was taken away.
I must admit when I saw the title and brief description I expected a sad poem. Instead I found this — so full of gratitude and praise.
Long ago, I met someone in his sixties who had lost a daughter about 29 years previously, at the age of 1. He showed me a poem he had written on her 17th birthday, which contained the refrain 'She would have been seventeen today' and used the phrase 'I wish' often. Now, I wish I could show your poem to that father!
