She gave her a cold look and stated, "Lucius Malfoy. Pureblood. Unlike you. I refuse to be contaminated with your filth, Mudblood."
Lily gasped in horror, but Severus just looked confused.
"Lily? What's a Mudblood?" he asked innocently.
"Don't ever say that word, Severus Snape! It means "dirty blood". It's a really awful name for someone with muggle parents. Someone like me." Lily looked miserable. Severus wasn't sure what to do. Defend his love, Lily? Or make friends within his probable house?
"Come on, Lils. Let's go sit somewhere else." Severus may have just sealed his fate, but he would do anything for Lily.
As they were searching for a compartment, they ran into a small group of boys.
"Hey! Watch where you're going, Greasy!" said the boy with the black hair.
Severus scowled at the boy and said, "That's Severus, should I ever have the misfortune of speaking to you again."
"James Potter," the boy said while eyeing Lily. "And who might you be, beautiful?"
"You leave my Lily alone!" Severus shouted.
"Come on, Sev. Let's just go." Lily seemed slightly embarrassed, and only then did Severus had referred to her as "his Lily".
As they started to walk away, they heard James yelling, "Okay, see you later, Snivellous! You too, Lily!"
Annoyed and muttering under their breath, the two youths made their way to a new compartment, so that they might have some peace on the ride to Hogwarts.
