You decide that you can't take either Grievous or Dooku alone. You turn your fighter towards the direction you saw your companions travel. You feel a tremor in the Force as you look down and see a ship leaving the flagship! General Grievous and Count Dooku were trying to slip away with the Chancellor! You weren't about to let that happen.
You drop your fighter directly behind the escaping craft. Then you suddenly realize you can't follow them through hyperspace! As soon as they make the jump to lightspeed, they were gone. The ship is too small to board and you can't shoot it down because you'd kill the Chancellor. Then you realize you can fire a tracking device at it.
You line up with your sights on the ship. As soon as it clears the battle, it's gone. you fire your tracking device and it sticks to the hull of the enemy ship and activates. It worked!
The ship makes the jump to hyperspace and you set your navicomputer to follow the tracking device. Your fighter suddenly jerks and you leave the battle and make the jump to hyperspace.
