It was a partly sunny morning at Seto Kaiba's public Dueling arena. For the third time in three months, he had challenged Yugi Moto to a game of Duel Monsters in an attempt to reclaim his title as the best duelist in the world. The only problem was that Yugi was simply a better player than he was.
So Kaiba began to scheme. Using a combination of technical ingenuity and some technology "borrowed" from his other archrival Pegasus, Kaiba rigged the dueling arena so that with the press of a button, a monster under Yugi's control would go haywire and attack him. Kaiba would then grin and chalk it up to some new card, claiming victory. Kaiba didn't fully understand the technology that Pegasus had, but he assumed that it was mostly harmless.
So when he was losing to Yugi 1700-800 in the last moments of the duel, Kaiba readied his trap. Facing both Yugi and his two monsters, the Mystic Elf and Dark Magician Girl, he laughed.
"This time Yugi, you're not going to defeat me!"
"And why not Kaiba?"
"Simple! My new card, Brain Scramble!" Grinning to himself, Kaiba pressed a button he had hidden on his side of the dueling arena. However, instead of the predicted action of Yugi's Dark Magician Girl attacking the Mystic Elf, the dueling arena gave off an odd buzzing noise.
Then all the other monsters besides the Dark Magician Girl dissapeared as visible bolts of static erupted from the gaming grid. Everyone, including Kaiba was confused.
"Nice card," commented Jou (Joey in the English dub) in the background.
"Kaiba! What sort of weapon have you used?" asked Yugi. Kaiba could only shake his head.
"A damn good one."
Then three things happened. The first was that the figure of the Dark Magician Girl began to expand, becoming larger and larger. As this was happening, her skin, made of holograms and fancy optical illusions, took a distinct form that was indisinguisable from real human skin. The fact that her incredibily large boots crushed the dueling table was proof that somehow, she had become real.
The third was that Kaiba swore never to use anything he didn't understand again. Somewhere he could just see Pegasus laughing at him.
Finally, the static bolts ceased, the smoke faded, and the form of a 200 foot tall flesh-and-blood Dark Magician Girl filled the room, with Yugi looking on in shock. Grinning, the giantess turned to her former owner and looked down upon him.
