Shrunken Bryan saw the approach of the massive fingertip, and quickly evaded curious Tommy's gargantuan jab by running to the right.
"OH, WELL," Tommy reacted to the tiny bug's evasive tactics. "IF YOU WOULD RATHER PLAY WITH MR. SUNBEAM..."
Tommy laughed as he once again began moving the giant magnifying glass, directing a fierce beam of light across the sleek, black countertop, closing the gap with the elusive and strange little ant.
Tiny Bryan realized he had made a huge blunder. Tommy had detected something strange enough to make him question his identification of his neighbor as a mere ant.
And, instead of embracing this chance for salvation, the shrunken man had fled like a fool!
The quarter-inch-tall man stopped and turned to face his titanic teenaged neighbor.
"Tommy!" Bryan screamed as loudly as possible.
His eyes strained to see past the dazzling pillar of intense, focused light bearing down on him.
As the teenager brought the tightly focused beam directly onto the weird bug, he waited expectantly for the inevitable result.
As for the tiny man, blinded by the light, he felt the sizzling of the air around him as the beam began to make his skin fry.
There was a very brief shriek that went unheard, followed by the usual sizzling pop as another little ant turned to a burnt crisp.
Shifting the magnifying glass to dissipate the beam of light and simply study the magnified view of the speck of blackened cinders, Tommy wondered again about the strange little bug.
"I'm sure there's more where it came from," he decided before shoving the lethal magnifying glass into his pocket.
