You woke up to bright lights. The glare was a overwhelming, considering he had just spent weeks in darkness, and it took him a couple of minutes to get accustomed. When he did, you noticed that your sibling had also woken up, and she was writing something on paper. When you looked at her eyes, you noticed they were golden and black (CREEPY), and that she had a rather dazed look. Apparently, she realized by a stronger mental pulse that you were finally awake. She spun around on a chair and ran up to your bed hugging you with tears in her eyes.
"Oh, Gilly, I'm so happy to finally meet you!" and then she babbled ceaselessly about how much she missed and wanted to meet her brother and how disappointed she was when you were close to death, and how she had healed you and applied medication and magic and put nutrient injections into you. She also babbled about other things, and it was, indeed, very odd. She seemed kind, however, and it was odd in a funny and endearing way. Or maybe that's just how your mind responded to it, knowing that it was your sister... Either way, you could accept her, and was grateful she wasn't weirder or cruel.
She got you out of bed when her speech was finished, and took you to a shower room ("They're the most delightful things; I almost gasped when I first took a shower," she said, though you've had showers beore and could understand how good it would've felt if you hadn't had any), where you noticed some casual clothes were hanging from hangers from the doorknob and realized that she had thought about getting you some new clothes, as the ones you were in stank. Oddly enough, you also saw some biscuits and milk in a plate by the sink. So anyway, you take a shower, get dressed, and have breakast (which you consumed rather quickly; you were starving, as nutrient injections don't substitute food remotely, and as such you looked like a skeleton when you saw your reflection in the mirror). When you got out, you noticed your sister reading a book on the desk. WIth a start, you realized that it was one of the Harry Potter books, and that you would probably have to go to Hogwarts soon. As you walked past, your sister felt your arrival and said in a rather kind yet oddly dazed voice, "Ah, gooooood.... You're out, and that means we can pick up Wevyn and Drak and head to the Council of Weyrelders...."
"WHAT?! Already? But I just woke up from a coma for 3 weeks!" although, even as you said it, you realized the elders would want a report on what happened from you and Drak, and that they would get impatient rater quickly now that they knew you were awake. Your sister picked up this thought subconsciously, and nods. Speaklessly, you both get up, and head down the whitewashed hall to the surface. It felt good to stretch your wings and legs; they almost felt like lead. When you walked up some stairs, you exited out a reinforced, camoflouged door. You noticed a sparsely grassy field beside you, and by looking behind you, you saw a hill and barely saw the reinforced doors. That was when Drakreanor and a white and gold dragon flew up to greet you both. You assumed it was Wevyn, and she looked almost as happy to see Zodiash as Drak was to see you, with faint comments you felt telepathicaly such as,'Are you all right? Have you been eating properly? You look thinner than usual, you've been spending too much time reading and not taking care of yourself!"
Pushing the continuous barrage of comments away that was occuring between the other two, you and Drak happily started talking as you all walked down the path to another, bigger, and much more spire-like hill with a set of enchanted and guarded doors. You noticed Drak had cleaned himself considerably, especially the salt and the red flesh rim, and even looked as if he had recently been flirting with a few lady dragons. As you thought this, you noticed Wevyn commenting to Zodiash what a cad Drak was and how he had tried flirting with her before she told him she was his sister, and she called up a mental image of a slightly flustered Drak and a glaring Wevyn. They both laughed at this. When they got to the doors, the guards nodded in their direction and used a seal to open the gates, which came ajar slowly and with an old grating sound. When they stepped inside, they came into a great hall dug from stone, with art pieces of humans and dragons and old swords and armor in stands. When they approached the end of it, another great set of doors opened, and they stepped into a great crystal cavern of blues, reds, greens, and any other color you could think of. Around the cavern were seven different colored crystal thrones, with the Weyrelders sitting in them with ancient dragons coiled around. As the doors closed behind them, two chairs popped out of nowhere in the middle, and both of the humans took this as a cue to sit down with the dragons beside them. When they were seated, the Elder in the biggest throne, the Diamond Throne, spoke while shifting in a flowing silver and gold robe.
"Gilgaras and Zodiash Dragoner," he spoke in a rasping and officious voice,"You have been called upon by the Council to reveal your reports on what has traspired so far since the day you were assigned to gather the heroes of the other realms."
When he finished saying this, you and Zodiash immediately let loose a telepathic pulse to the Seven, and within this pulse was all that had transpired to give the Elders an instant report. When it reached their ancient minds, everything was silent for a good 10 minutes as they obviously debated on what had been going on mentally, and when they were finished, the Diamond Elder spoke again to say,"Gilgaras, you have failed in your mission. You erred in the creation of your portal, and although you were able to escape from the Malyndians, you required a great deal of time to recover, in which our enemies have been relatively quiet, thankfully. We have concluded the Emerate has completed their time machine, something our spies have been reporting to us about."
He noticed the look of shock on your face, and smiled kindly as he explained,"Do not worry; our spies have told usthey're sabotaging the machine as we speak, and that it requires so much energy, living sacrifices and magic to power, they will likely not be using except rarely. Indeed, we suspect the Malyndians you saw were spies using the machine to try and wipe us out from the past, although they underestimated our ancestor's technology and likely have been killed. We will, in fact, bring out our top spy, as we have just heard he's on the way here after destroying the machine. Ahh, here he is now."
As he said those words, the doorss creaked open slowly, and you watched in shock as a small, grinning figure walked into view. Only one person you knew looked that small and had that face; Leblanc!
"Hey, Gil! I see you've met your sister," he said in his joking, mousy voice.
"Spy Leblanc, do not waste time. How did the sabotage turn out?" a glaring woman said, the one who sat on the Ruby Throne, the Elder in charge of the military.
At this, Leblanc's face grew unusually serious, and he telepathically relayed his report to the Elders as well. When you noticed how they smirked and sighed in relief, you judged it was a good report, suddenly feeling slightly jealous that Leblanc's mission went off without a hitch. You then decided to spend the time as the Elders were mindspeaking to mindspeak with Leblanc. It was good to see your friend again, although you wondered how Leblanc got out of the guerilla war in your hometown. As you spoke, you nearly shouted for joy as Leblanc told you that they had managed to push the Mallies out of town, and that he had received a note to become a saboteur spy temporarily for the Council while he was partying. As they finished up thier own conversation, the Council again spoke, with the Diamond Elder saying,"Excellent. Now, getting back to your mission, Gilgaras. You have failed, and the Council has decided... to take partial responsibility. We understand now that it was likely dangerous to send a lone dragon and human, both young, to complete a mission frought with danger. As such, we have decided that you will be taking Zodiash and Leblanc with you to recruit the heroes, starting with Potter."
You were slightly surprised and angry. How dare they order his sister to come? She was young and he didn't want her to be harmed, as he had rejoiced with joy before that some of his family was left while in the shower. He would not lose her.
The Council, sensing your thoughts, replied,"You and your sister have no choice, Weyrling Dragoner. WE have concluded that you will need yourcombined energies to open a rift capable of bringing another dragon and human with you, one that cannot realm drift, and our word is final. Besides, you need not worry; we have read the Hogwarts tomes as well, and we have concluded that being there will likely be even safer than here. You musn't forget either that she has spent most of her life in a concentration camp, and has had experiments conducted on her that would drive most people insane to the point of mental death."
You looked at your sister with new respect and guilt in your eyes; behind her dazed and calm exterior, you could sense something underneath that was courageous and righteous, and behind her eyes, you could see a fire burning brighter than the Pernite sun. You nod as you exchange a feeling of trust and respect with her, and say back to the Elders,"Alright, we're ready." At this, the Council looks surprised and burst out laughing. The Weyrelder of Knowledge, in the Emerald Throne, wiping away tears of laughter as you sat there confused, and saying in a scholerly tone,"Oh, no, Mr. Dragoner. You will be departing in one week, as we get you three ready. We realize, after reading these books, that you will be needing much more than robes, books, and a wand; you will need charms cast on your wings to hide them, British accents, words, and mannerisms perfected, new names, and most important of all, seals cast on you and Leblanc so you do not behave outrageously and act like 18-year-olds in front of 10-17-year-olds. You will also need courses in Occlumency before you leave, as it would be drastic if one of the wizards was to read your minds. Now, you may go."
