This choice: Go back to Hogwarts and inlist Harry's help • Go Back...Chapter #4Ancient Pern, Two Enemies, and a Prophet by: Unknown You noticed, with your enhanced vision, two dark, flying figures coming up over the horizen. You gulped, as you received a faint telepathic pulse from the two, and you realized from the wave that these two were definately NOT friendly. Normally, you could probably take them, whatever they were, but the creation of the portal that brought him in had sapped him of a great deal of his energy . "!@#$," you mutter, already tryinto stay upright in the saddle, and sent a prayer to something out there to help you. After all, this was ancient Pern, a time when the gods or whatever had not forsaken them. To your surprise, you felt something powerful in return, not expecting that to actually work. It turned out that this powerful something was a surge of energy from nowhere, which you and Drak hastily gathered and used to create another portal back to the safest (well, relatively safe) place you could think of; you're home.
"Quickly, Gil," Drakreanor hissed mentally, apparently not getting a very good vibe from the other two whatevers (actually, they looked like dragons, but there was no way to be sure, they were so far away).
You did, indeed, do it quickly, and breathed a sigh if relief as the portal popped open like a swirling rift in the air. You and Drak popped through, feeling an odd sensation, when you realized by looking behind you that the two advrersaries werefiring at you with advanced weaponry; even more shocking was that they were the very same enemies from your realm, and that they were riding giant metal bird-things which squawked and hum electronically at the same time. Fury was building up from inside him, as well as the unbelievable amount of exhaustion which came from creating two portals in quick succession. As such, you still had enough time to say, "!@#$ you, Mally !@#$%s!" while giving them The Finger and gazing at their enraged and humiliated looks and laughing (boy, you were surprised you got all that done) before being whisked away into blackness....
.......................................
The two invaders were shocked that their guns had not worked. Apparently, they did not understand portal physics, and as their stupid yet frightening faces dawned on this, they also came to have a look of shame. One of them shook his head raggedly and wearily took out a strange device (Which, in fact, was a particle resonater, something so complex we shall not speak of it; basically, it allows messages to be heard across great distances and even through time and dimensions instantly). As he tuned it to a proper setting, a noise came out of the contraption: "...and when I get my hands on you, privates, you'll wish you'd never been born!" as if he had already started shouting into it a deep and menacing voice before it had been tuned.
The first soldier said tiredly,"We're terribly sorry, sir. Indeed, the mission was a failure, as the ancient Pernites have weaponry beyond that which we anticipated. It seems that, to destroy them in this time, and thus the future, we would need an army even bigger than what we have now."
The general contemplated using the vast amounts of life energy, electricity, and magic. Indeed, they already needed a large amount of those energies, and using it could cost enough money to buy a million carats of thaumacite (the crystals that produce mystic energy, or "magic", as it was more commonly referred). He decided not to; even though they were his best spies (He had only used the word "private" as it was the most condescending thing that came to his militaristic mind) and had brought him important information, they had failed nevertheless and would be punished. "I have decided to let you two stay. You don't deserve to come back via time machine. Have fun in ancient Pern," he said in his most dangerously calm voice possible. He deleted the transmission and entertained himself the rest of the day by imagining their horrified faces when he had entered his message.
Back at ancient Pern, the two spies did indeed have horrified faces; they flew down bemoaning and crying ceaselessly about their bad luck, unable to imagine that it could get any worse. And get worse it did, as a figure descended from the canopy of the forest in shimmering, arcane wings. When it got closer, the two soldiers noticed that these were not the normal Dragoner wings they had so often torn apart, looking in fact like they were conjured magical bird's wings. They also noticed the figure was a male, and a very old and fierce looking male at that, with black, gray and gold robes with a funny-looking hood-hat, holding a godly looking staff and a simple, white wand in his right and left hands, and like all apparent ancient magic users, he had a sagacious looking face and a white beard and hair. They knew quickly that this man was their funeral, and bawled ever harder.
As the man stepped away from the 2 piles of ash and red metal beside him, brushing off his robes the dust, a voice said telepathically in his head.
'Ser, are you all right?' a feminine, concerned voice mind-echoed.
'Why, yes, Anisyth. Thank you for your concern, however. I merely ran into a couple of nasty-looking creatures from the future, and needless to say, I blasted them into bits. Oh, and Anisyth? Set up a Portal with Treven,' he said in a kinder voice one would've thought possible from the man.
'Whatever for, sir?' she replied after gulping a bit at the blasted part of his remark.
'Something very important,' he replied in a graver voice. 'The Prophet has come and gone, and we must find him to find the Crystal of the Multiverse.' | Members who added to this interactive story also contributed to these: |
