However much you wanted to get away from those decadent elders, you decided that traveling to a different Realm to recruit warriors was a flawed premise to begin with. The fact was, the armies that were facing were so large that the simple addition of merely a few warriors, even if they were exeptional, would hardly make a difference in the grand scheme of things.
It took a couple days to arrange a meeting with them, which was amazing considering the beaureucratic inefficiency of Angelos Weyr.
Needless to say, the elders were not pleased at your decision.
"You say that you will not go Giljaras?" spat Lord Alucand.
"No, for I believe the risk to be too great. There is a chance that the Malthinae could learn of the ability to traverse between realms, and also there is no need to involve innocents," you said. "Besides, I'm not the most diplomatic person in the world either."
Drak took that moment to speak up, "What Gil also spoke to me earlier of is that even if we were to successfully transport warriors from other books to our Realm, their impact would be negligible. If we were fighting a feudal-age battle, where individual prowess in battle actually mattered, then yes traveling to another realm for powerful warriors would be the solution. Yet the opponents we face function more like a machine; any part that gets broken can be quickly replaced, and the level of weaponry has enabled that individual skill in battle become moot. How many times, has a dragonrider come into battle atop his mount, only to be dispatched by an invisible sniper?"
"Basically, the point is that Draconia has been waging this war the wrong way up to this point. The only way that we might be able to hold our ground against the Mylandians is adopting assembally line production. Copying their tactics might not be a bad idea either."
"So you propose we copy the Malthinae?" said Alucand, not liking the notion.
"We'd better if any of us plan on eating next year," you said.
The elders simply stared at you and Drak.
"We shall discuss what you and Drakreanor have said and then determine the correct choice of action, in the meantime, I encourage you to return to your previously given task of searching through the realms for warriors, should you refuse, the only action I have left is to send you directly to the front lines."
