Matt was doing well, all things considering.
The shoe was proving to be easy enough to scale, despite the constant turbulence of Julie's footfalls. Matt chanced a look at his surroundings, and saw they were in the upstairs hall. Matt guessed she was probably on her way to Kellie's room. He gave a great heave, and threw himself over the edge onto the top of the shoe.
Matt made a quick dive at the shoelaces, taking hold as Julie's foot sailed into the air. He found the going far more difficult up here. The wind from Julie's steps threatened to toss him from the shoe. Mercifully, it was over quickly as Julie entered Kellie's room and stopped.
"WELL, WHERE IS HE?" Kellie boomed.
"YEA, YOU KNOW, THIS PROJECT IS DUE IN TWO DAYS!" Andrea said.
Matt looked up at the giant girls. He saw Kellie, his sister, and her other friends Andrea, and Amanda. They resembled a group of mythic goddesses.
"Hey! Kellie! Girls! I'm down here, on Julie's shoe!" Matt squealed. But it was again for naught.
"I DON'T KNOW, YOU GUYS! HE WASN'T DOWN THERE!" Julie responded.
"UNBELIEVABLE!" Andrea boomed, flustered. "I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN WE COULDN'T COUNT ON YOUR BROTHER, KELLIE!"
Matt stood up. He had to get to higher ground if he wanted any shot at getting one of the girls to notice him. He figured his best option would be to climb Julie's body. If she could reach her ear, she'd have to hear him! Matt looked up and gulped. Starting at the bottom of her jeans, it would take a long time and a lot of effort. But he was determined. He started for her leg.
"WELL, BEST JUST START WORKING NOW AND GET A HEAD START BEFORE MATT GETS HOME." Kellie boomed, taking a seat on the floor. Her friends started to do the same.
Matt was nearly to his destination when everything changed. As Julie went to sit down, she lost her balance. Her leg went kicking wildly into the air. Matt, caught totally unaware, was flung skyward, up and off the gigantic shoe. He sailed upward, and actually passed very close to Andrea's face. Matt's stomach lurched as he hit the peak of his flight and the inevitable descent started.
He screamed in terror, flipping end over end, tumbling through the air before finally coming to a landing...
