Matt falls into the big bowl of chip dip. At first he falls completely under, but he finds that with a little effort he can stay above the surface pretty easily. Unfortunately, while he's escaped the spider for a bit, he can see that the spider is very slowly starting to descend towards the bowl of dip. Matt can't believe it's going to end this way: after everything he's been through, he's going to be eaten by a spider while stuck in a giant bowl of chip dip.
Eventually the spider reaches the dip. By this time, Matt has swam over to the opposite side of the bowl and found, to his disappointment, that there's no way he can climb over the top. Fortunately, the spider didn't know what it was getting into, and it can't move in the dip. Matt can't believe his luck, but he still has a feeling of low-level panic. The spider can't get to him, but he also can't escape. What's going to happen?
After about 15 minutes of staring at the spider, Matt hears a loud, rhythmic thunder. He doesn't want to take his eyes off the spider for one second, but all of a sudden the bowl of dip is lifted high into the air. Matt remembers that his sister had said she would invite her friends over to watch TV that day, and he also heard his mom say that she was going to a PTA potluck.
