This choice: The next day, at the meeting... • Go Back...Chapter #4The next day, at the meeting... by: Unknown Rika and Renamon waited anxiously for Henry to call them back, hopefully carrying some good news. Finally, the next morning the call came through, Henry asking the pair to stop by his families apartment. No sooner had Rika hung up the phone before Renamon had scooped her up, disappearing into the shadows as she carried her tamer across town in an instant.
"Wow, you two don't waist anytime." Henry said when he opened his door a few minutes later, letting Rika and Renamon step inside.
"You can thank Renamon. She swept me off my feet as soon as I set the phone down. I didn't even get to grab my shoes."
"Well come into my room. I've got the cards ready" Henry said, motioning towards the red haired tamer and her digital partner. As the trio walked Renamon looked around, noticing that the apartment seemed rather empty.
"Henry, where is your family and Terriermon?"
"Dad and Mom are at work, my brother's at a friends studying, my older sister took Suzie, Lopmon, and Terriermon to the park. I told them I would be along once I finished up a few things I was working on."
"I guess handing me and Renamon a bunch of inflation based cards would have drawn some unwanted attention."
Henry nodded, smiling weakly as he opened his bedroom door, "That's about it." With that Henry, Rika, and Renamon stepped into Henry's room. Little had changed about the teenaged Henry's room except for the simple fact that his computer set up had doubled in size. Taking up one entire wall his computer sat opposite the bed, at least a dozen computers humming and working together on some mysterious task.
"I never knew you were such a geek Henry." Rika joked, drawing a cold glare from Henry before he went over to his cluttered desk and picked up a stack of twenty cards that were rubber banded together. He handed the cards to Rika, and mindlessly the tamer looked down at the cards and saw they didn't look like official cards.
"First, I'm going to say there are only a few cards in the entire digimon trading card game that deal with what you two are interested in. Of those cards I had none so I called up an old friend and got him to bring the cards by so I could copy them. Otherwise, I was forced to make most of those calls myself."
"You made them?" Renamon said, slightly surprised.
Henry nodded, "Yeah, I've been working with my father on something for Yamachi. It's supposed to let use create the kind of cards we can use in battle. The program is still very basic, but I was able to use it to place a code on the metallic strips of those cards. They work like any normal card, and they each have a printed description on them. They just don't have a picture and some of the other flashy things."
"Just tell me this, are you sure they'll work?" Rika asked, holding the cards up beside Henry's face.
"Positive. I've even included a card to get you two to and from the digital world, since that's where you were intending to do all this. Also, there is a reset card at the bottom of that stack, so you can get back to normal before you come back to the real world."
Rika smiled, taking the cards and slipping them into her pocket, "Thanks for thinking ahead Henry. Well, we'll see you around." With that Rika and Renamon turned to leave, but before they stepped out of Henry's bedroom the blue hair tamer tapped Rika on the shoulder. Rika turned, raising an eyebrow as she asked, "What?"
"Aren't you forgetting something?" Henry mentioned, reaching over to his desk and picking up a small, video camera. Rika rolled her eyes, remembering the deal she had made with Henry. Boy's and their one track minds. Still, if it hadn't been for Henry she wouldn't have been able to do anything to help Renamon live her fantasy. So, with a quick snatch Rika took the camera, saying a quick goodbye to Henry before she and Renamon left, returning to the house.
Once at the house, Rika and Renamon stood in the front yard, Renamon watching anxiously as Rika flipped through the cards Henry had given her. There were some basic ones, some digimon cards like one for Inflatamon, and some other that made Rika blush a little, surprised at what Henry had come up with. Still, slipping out the transportation card Rika swiped it, and in a flash she and Renamon had disappeared from the yard, reappearing in the indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
